In a recent award ceremony that celebrated excellence in accounting, two standout students from CamEd Business School, Ms. Liv Sin and Mr. Suon Sovann Vichea, achieved the worldwide top scores in examinations conducted by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. This remarkable accomplishment highlights the maturing accounting industry in Cambodia, and symbolizing the development and potential within the local sector.
The ceremony was graced by His Excellency Bou Tharin, the General Director of Accounting and Auditing Regulator, who congratulated the top scorers. The students’ achievements were in the subjects of Foundations in Audit-FAU and Foundations in Financial Management – FFM during the June 2023 exam session.
Growing Stature of Professional Education in Cambodia
Ms. Liv Sin’s accomplishment in FAU, which covers aspects such as audit purpose, auditor’s role, audit process, audit planning, and internal control evaluation, made her the No. 1 worldwide top scorer. Speaking with Cambodia Investment Review, she expressed gratitude for the support system at CamEd, including her family, professors, tutors, staff, and friends.

Ms. Sin elaborated on the quality education at CamEd, emphasizing well-structured courses, curricula designed for exam preparation, and expert instructors. She mentioned, “Personally, I always aim high in my academics, which motivates me to achieve this award.”
When asked about the broader implications of the award, Ms. Sin articulated, “This award holds great importance to me as it reflects the dedication and effort I have invested in this subject. It showcases the growth and potential of the accounting field in Cambodia and demonstrates that Cambodia is producing skilled professionals who can contribute to the industry’s progress both locally and globally.” Her future career aspirations include accounting and audit roles in a reputable organization.
Mr. Suon Sovann Vichea, another top scorer, attained the No. 1 position in FFM, a subject introducing cash management, investment decisions, and trade credit management. He also spoke with Cambodia Investment Review about the value of hard work and community, appreciating the school’s environment and his classmates’ motivation.
“I spent a lot of time at school. The extended opening hours during exam season gave me a lot of time to catch up on lessons,” he recounted. Mr. Vichea also expressed pride in his classmates’ achievements and the significance of accounting as an industry where Cambodia is making strides. His future interests lie in auditing, taxation, and financial management.
Both Ms. Sin and Mr. Vichea’s achievements serve as a testament to the growing stature of professional education in Cambodia, with accounting being a prime example.
