Cambodia Investment Review
The Lighthouse Club Cambodia has reinforced its position at the heart of Cambodia’s construction and built-environment community with a recent charity networking event focused on working-at-height safety, supported by Fallprotec Asia at Paparazzi Bar and Kitchen on January 30, 2026 in Phnom Penh.
The event brought together professionals from construction, engineering, real estate and asset management at a time when Cambodia’s development landscape is shifting toward larger, taller and more technically complex projects. Against this backdrop, working-at-height safety was positioned not only as a regulatory concern, but as a shared industry responsibility with direct implications for asset quality, investor confidence and workforce welfare.
Discussions throughout the session reflected a growing consensus that safety standards are increasingly intertwined with commercial outcomes, particularly as international investors and occupiers apply global benchmarks to projects in emerging markets such as Cambodia.

Safety expectations rise alongside project complexity
Addressing attendees, Ross Wheble, Managing Director of Knight Frank Cambodia, said the role of safety within the construction and property sectors has evolved significantly.
“Working-at-height safety is no longer viewed purely through a compliance lens,” Wheble said. “For investors and occupiers, it increasingly influences asset value, long-term operating costs and reputational risk. These considerations are now part of mainstream due diligence.”
He added that as Cambodia attracts more institutional capital and multinational tenants, expectations around safety performance are becoming more explicit. “Developers and owners are being asked to demonstrate that their assets can meet international standards over the full lifecycle of a building,” he said.
These themes resonated with participants from across the construction and consultancy community, many of whom pointed to safety performance as an emerging pillar within environmental, social and governance (ESG) frameworks.

Embedding safety from design through operations
Fallprotec Asia used the session to highlight how engineered fall-protection and safe-access solutions can be integrated into projects from the earliest design stages through installation, inspection and ongoing training.
Trevor Dick of Fallprotec Asia said that early integration of safety systems is critical to managing both risk and cost over time.
“When safety is designed in from the outset, it delivers long-term benefits,” he said. “It supports safer construction, simplifies maintenance and helps asset owners manage operational risk more effectively over the life of a building.”
He noted that as Cambodia’s building stock matures, demand is growing for solutions that support safe access not just during construction, but throughout decades of operation, inspection and refurbishment.

Community, charity and a flagship annual event
Beyond technical discussions, the event underlined Lighthouse Club Cambodia’s charitable mission. Proceeds from the session will support construction workers and their families, aligning industry networking with tangible social impact.
Organisers said the strong turnout reflected a shared recognition that collaboration across the construction industry is essential to improving safety outcomes and supporting those most exposed to on-site risk.
Building on this momentum, Lighthouse Club Cambodia is also preparing for its flagship annual event — the 9th Annual Lighthouse Club Cambodia Charity Golf Day, scheduled for late February at Chhun On Golf Resort. The event is expected to draw broad participation from across the construction, property and professional services sectors, with support from partners including BritCham Cambodia and a wide range of corporate sponsors.
Together, the recent safety networking session and the upcoming charity golf day reflect Lighthouse Club Cambodia’s wider role: connecting the construction industry around safety, community and shared responsibility, while delivering meaningful support to those who build Cambodia’s evolving urban landscape.
