Cambodia’s Minister of Women’s Affairs, Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi, joined some of the country’s leading women from business, government and civil society for a high-level networking and leadership event hosted by Cambodia Leadership Review.
The event was held on Saturday, September 5, at TWG Tea Salon & Boutique in Vattanac Capital and brought together women featured in the recently launched 50 Khmer Women Voices 2026 magazine.
The gathering was designed to strengthen connections among the featured women while creating opportunities for leadership advice, professional collaboration and community building.
The event was hosted by Cambodian media and communications professional as well as 50 Khmer Women Voices 2026 alumni Kounila Keo.
More Progress Needed on Women’s Participation
Serving as guest of honour, Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi addressed the 50 women and highlighted the expanding participation of Cambodian women across the private sector, government and civil society.
She said Cambodian women were increasingly taking on influential leadership and decision-making roles, contributing to the country’s economic and social development.
However, the minister also acknowledged that more work was required to overcome the barriers that continue to affect women’s professional advancement and participation.
She highlighted the importance of initiatives that bring women together, describing community building, professional connections and mutual support as important steps toward helping women overcome these challenges.
Her Excellency Minister also emphasized that women’s leadership is not merely a women’s issue, but a development imperative, an economic necessity, and a national priority for the ASEAN community. Women are needed as decision-makers, technology innovators, entrepreneurs, peacebuilders, and architects of our common future.
To advance women’s and young women’s leadership, Her Excellency highlighted five key priorities:
• STEM, Financial, and Digital Literacy
• Confidence and Self-Ownership
• Mentorship, Sponsorship, and Solidarity
• Institutional Reform
• Accountability and Gender-Disaggregated Data
Building a Wider Leadership Community
Kim Tol Tan, founder and CEO of Grow4Growth Training and Development, which co-organized the magazine and event with Cambodia Leadership Review, said the relationships developed during the gathering could create valuable opportunities for the women involved.
She added that the organizers intended to build on the event by developing a wider community through which participants could remain connected, exchange advice and support one another beyond the initial gathering.
The event followed the launch of 50 Khmer Women Voices 2026, a special Cambodia Leadership Review publication profiling 50 Cambodian women from across business, entrepreneurship, government, education, development and civil society.
The publication was created to highlight the achievements, experiences and leadership perspectives of Cambodian women while providing greater visibility to their contributions across the country.
Each attendee received a printed copy of the magazine, along with a special beauty gift provided by Revlon.
