Myanmar Investment Review
EuroCham Myanmar has announced the appointment of Dominique Nicolas Jung as its new Chairman, marking a leadership transition for the chamber as it continues to support European businesses operating in Myanmar’s complex economic environment.
Jung succeeds Adrian Short, who has served as Chairman for the past five years. During his tenure, Short guided the chamber through periods of heightened uncertainty, helping to sustain engagement between European companies, local stakeholders, and international partners. EuroCham Myanmar said Short will remain involved during the transition to ensure continuity.
Leadership Transition at a Pivotal Moment
The change in leadership comes as EuroCham Myanmar maintains its role as a representative body for European enterprises across sectors including consumer goods, manufacturing, services, energy, and infrastructure. The chamber functions as a platform for advocacy, coordination, and the promotion of responsible business practices, particularly important amid evolving regulatory and operating conditions.
EuroCham Myanmar said the appointment reflects a balance between continuity and renewal, positioning the organisation to respond to member needs while adapting to shifting market realities.
International Experience and Local Engagement
Jung brings extensive international experience to the role. A Swiss and German national, he has lived and worked in 11 countries across four continents, developing a career in multinational environments with diverse regulatory frameworks and business cultures.
He currently serves as Managing Director of Heineken Myanmar, one of the largest foreign-invested consumer goods companies in the country. Jung joined the EuroCham Myanmar Board in 2024 and has been involved in initiatives aimed at strengthening collaboration among European businesses and reinforcing long-term engagement with the local market.
The chamber highlighted Jung’s collaborative leadership style and his focus on trust, partnership, and shared ambition as key attributes supporting his appointment.
Priorities for the Chamber Going Forward
Under its new chairman, EuroCham Myanmar said it will continue to emphasise responsible business conduct, compliance, and international best practices. In recent years, the chamber has increased its focus on sustainability and risk management, while supporting members in navigating operational challenges.
Looking ahead, Jung is expected to prioritise deeper member engagement, a strengthened advocacy role, and initiatives that encourage innovation and responsible investment. EuroCham Myanmar also reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with European embassies, partner organisations, and local stakeholders to advance dialogue on trade and investment.
As it enters this next phase, EuroCham Myanmar invited its members and partners to remain actively involved, underscoring the chamber’s role as a unifying platform and a catalyst for European business interests in Myanmar.
