The British Chamber of Commerce Cambodia (BritCham) and UN Women will host Cambodia’s first-ever in-person WEPs Corporate Action Lab (WEPsCAL) Business Breakfast Talk on Wednesday the 20th of August at Prudential’s Chip Mong Tower, 8:30 until 11:30am. The event brings together senior leaders from across the private sector to explore inclusive leadership and strategies to advance gender equality in the Kingdom.
The seminar, part of UN Women’s Gender Action Lab: Innovation for Impact for Gender Equality in Asia and the Pacific, is a landmark initiative in Cambodia. It provides a practical platform for companies to translate their commitment to the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) into tangible action, creating opportunities for peer learning and cross-sector collaboration.
Key speakers represent a broad range of industries, highlighting the diverse perspectives necessary to drive meaningful change. Ms. Carrie Cameron, Principal at The King’s School Vattanacville, will bring insights from the education sector; Mr. Daniel Simon, Managing Director of Rosewood Phnom Penh, from hospitality; Ms. Sin Sokanha, Partner at Bun and Associates, from the legal sector; and Teng Sophanna, Chief Human Resources Officer, Prudential, CLM Hub, representing insurance and capital markets. The discussion will be moderated by Katja Freiwald, UN Women Asia-Pacific Regional Lead for Women’s Economic Empowerment & Migration, who will provide a regional perspective on best practices and leadership strategies.
The seminar will explore key questions such as how leaders can model inclusive practices, navigate personal and organizational barriers, and accelerate women’s advancement into leadership roles. Participants will also collaborate in group exercises to identify actionable initiatives for creating more inclusive workplace cultures.
As the first WEPsCAL seminar in Cambodia, this BritCham x UN Women collaboration signals a significant step forward for private sector engagement on gender equality. With representation from heavyweights across industries, the seminar underscores the Kingdom’s growing commitment to inclusive leadership, ESG principles, and sustainable business practices.
This initiative positions Cambodia alongside regional peers in advancing gender equality and provides a platform for businesses to demonstrate leadership in fostering equitable and inclusive workplaces.
