BritCham Appoints Martin Darby as New Executive Director

The British Chamber of Commerce Cambodia (BritCham) has appointed Martin Darby as its new Executive Director following an extensive search for a candidate. With a strong background in business strategy and leadership, Darby is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing BritCham’s member engagement and strengthening business ties between the United Kingdom and Cambodia.

Experienced Leadership to Drive Growth

Darby brings with him a wealth of experience from his previous role as Managing Director of EFG, a major company under RMA (Cambodia) Plc. In this capacity, he oversaw operations across Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar, and was instrumental in expanding the company’s presence in Southeast Asia. His leadership was key in growing EFG’s franchise network, which now includes over 200 locations of well-known brands such as Coffee Club, Dairy Queen, Krispy Kreme, The Pizza Company, and Tous Les Jours. The company’s growth under Darby’s leadership also saw its workforce grow to 2,000 employees.

His role will involve strengthening engagement with BritCham’s members and enhancing the Chamber’s relationship with its strategic partners.

In his statement about the new role, Darby said, “I am excited to take on this new challenge and look forward to contributing to BritCham’s continued growth. Cambodia’s business landscape is dynamic, and I see a great opportunity to support UK businesses while fostering deeper ties between the UK and Cambodia. The collaborative efforts of BritCham’s members will be critical in driving forward our mission.”

A Strategic Vision for the Chamber’s Future

Darby’s appointment comes after a thorough selection process in which BritCham evaluated numerous candidates from around the globe. His previous experience in managing cross-border operations and his strategic vision for business growth were key factors in his selection.

Darby holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Oxford Brookes University and completed his undergraduate studies at Aberystwyth University. His blend of academic credentials and practical experience in the food service and franchise sectors makes him an ideal fit to lead BritCham as it seeks to deepen its impact on UK-Cambodia business relations.
