Cambodia Investment Review
Artificial intelligence and digital payments were at the centre of a Metfone-hosted business discussion at VIDEX Cambodia 2026, as technology and financial services representatives examined how Cambodian companies can use digital tools to improve productivity and customer service.
The panel, held as part of the Vietnam–Cambodia Trade and Product Promotion Fair 2026, brought together representatives from businesses and banks alongside speakers from Viettel Customer Service Company (VCX), Metfone and eMoney.
Moderated by Metfone Deputy General Director Ouk Chipphal, the discussion focused on practical applications of AI, including automating routine tasks, analysing information and managing customer interactions.
Matching AI Investment to Business Needs
A central theme was how companies can integrate AI into existing operations in ways that reflect their resources and business requirements.
Speakers outlined how automation could reduce time spent on repetitive work, allowing employees to concentrate on activities requiring specialist knowledge, creativity and decision-making. They also discussed the role of digital platforms in improving service quality and operational management.
For businesses assessing new technologies, the discussion emphasised identifying practical applications that address specific operational needs. However, the supplied account did not provide implementation costs or quantified productivity gains.
Digital Payments and Data Protection
The digitalisation of financial transactions was another focus, with participants examining its role in broader business transformation.
Alongside opportunities to improve efficiency, the panel addressed data protection and considerations for companies adopting new systems. These issues form part of the operational decisions businesses face when connecting customer service, payment processes and internal management through digital platforms.
The participation of eMoney brought a financial services perspective to the discussion, alongside the telecommunications and customer service expertise of Metfone and VCX.
Metfone Draws on Viettel Technology Network
Metfone also outlined its experience applying AI and digital technology across customer service, business operations and operational management.
The company said its presence in Cambodia, combined with technological support from other Viettel Group companies, could help connect local businesses with solutions suited to their needs.
The panel provided a forum for business representatives to exchange experiences with technology providers and assess potential uses of AI in their own operations, as Cambodian companies consider how digital investment can support competitiveness.
