The tax forum will be opened by H.E. Kong Vibol, Minister attached to the Prime Minister, Delegate of the Royal Government of Cambodia in charge as Director-General of the General Department of Taxation. The morning portion of the event will feature a series of panel discussions and presentations covering a wide range of topics, including tax audits and disputes, and the new standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding audits. The audience will also be introduced to both AmCham and EuroCham’s Tax committees, to understand how they operate and how you can get involved.

During the afternoon, participants will have a choice between smaller, more interactive breakout sessions to tailor their experience with sessions on transfer pricing, taxation of social enterprises and NGOs, share transfers, VAT, and e-commerce. Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to network with tax experts and stakeholders from several industries.

EuroCham Chairman Tassilo Brinzer said the new collaborative forum presents a chance to highlight real tax issues being faced by business owners in the Kingdom.

“This first joint Tax Forum by AmCham and EuroCham shows how important the topic is to the international business community in Cambodia. Tax collection, tax payments and the related policies and procedures are extremely important tools to sustain and stimulate an economy. An open dialogue between the private sector and the respective authorities is very important to maximizing the impact of modern tax policies that are as efficient as possible,” he said.

A Profitable Business Prioritizes Tax Efficiency And Compliance

AmCham President Casey Barnett added: “A profitable business prioritizes tax efficiency and compliance to avoid costly penalties. The 2024 Tax Forum, co-hosted by AmCham and EuroCham, is designed to help our members stay informed about recent changes in tax obligations.

Tax compliance is crucial not only for businesses but also for Cambodia’s economy, as approximately 60% of the country’s exports are destined for the U.S. and the European Union, with our members contributing significantly to national tax revenues.

The 2024 Tax Forum will provide valuable insights and answers from the country’s leading tax professionals, offering clarity on these evolving issues.”
