Cambodia Investment Review

Sunway Medical Centre, part of Malaysia’s Sunway Healthcare Group, and Intercare Hospital have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen healthcare services in Cambodia. The agreement was signed by Oknha Dr. Pung Carolyne, Vice Chairperson of Canadia Integrated Group and CEO of Intercare Hospital, and Dr. Khoo Chow Huat, Managing Director of Sunway Healthcare Group, in the presence of H.E. Shaharuddin Onn, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The partnership will focus on key specialties including Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Oncology, Eye Care, and Laboratory services, with an emphasis on improving patient pathways between Cambodia and Malaysia. By collaborating with Sunway Medical Centre, ranked top 250 in the world by Newsweek and number 1 hospital in Malaysia, Intercare aims to provide patients with better access to specialized consultations, coordinated care, and advanced treatment options.

Contribute To Strengthen The Broader Ecosystem

This collaboration is further supported by Canadia Bank and Cambodia Post Bank, key financial institutions under Canadia Investment Holding (CIH); the financial group of Canadia Integrated Group and will contribute to strengthen the broader ecosystem that supports growth across sectors, including healthcare.

As a start, customers of Canadia Bank and Cambodia Post Bank will enjoy special benefits in relation to the healthcare services offered at Sunway Medical Centre in line with CIH’s objectives and aspiration to provide the best-in-class banking services to their customers.

Meaningful Impact and Better Meet The Healthcare Needs

“This MoU reflects our shared vision of building a strong and trusted regional healthcare network, based on partnership, mutual respect, and a common purpose. Through this collaboration, we aim to make a meaningful impact and better meet the healthcare needs of patients and families in Cambodia,” said Dr Khoo Chow Huat, Managing Director of Sunway Healthcare Group.

“Our collaboration with Sunway Medical Centre is about more than access, it is about building a connected healthcare ecosystem. By linking local care with regional expertise, we can better support patients with more complex needs while strengthening trust in Cambodia’s healthcare system,” said Oknha Dr. Pung Carolyne, Vice Chairperson of Canadia Integrated Group and CEO of Intercare Hospital.

Since 2020, Intercare Hospital, part of Canadia Integrated Group’s non-financial business OCIC, has treated more than 70,000 patients and now works with more than 200 medical professionals, including a high number of international doctors, supporting its expanding services. The hospital currently operates across Phnom Penh, including an Intercare Express at Techo International Airport, with plans to expand to Siem Reap in 2026.

This collaboration reflects the broader relationship between Canadia Integrated Group and Sunway Group, marking a continued expansion of cooperation into healthcare and for more developments in other sectors.
