The Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC) has confirmed its leadership for the 2026–2028 term, re-electing Rath Sophoan, Chief Executive Officer and Country Head of Maybank (Cambodia) Plc., as Chairman following its Annual General Meeting held on March 26 in Phnom Penh.

The AGM also saw Toch Chaochek, Chief Executive Officer of Cambodia Post Bank Plc., elected as Vice-Chairman, alongside the appointment of a new Council representing a broad cross-section of Cambodia’s banking sector.

During the meeting, members reviewed and approved the Association’s 2025 Annual Report and Financial Report, as well as its 2026 Budget Plan, reaffirming ABC’s role in supporting a stable, responsible, and inclusive banking environment while safeguarding the interests of its members.

Leadership continuity and reform focus

In his remarks, Sophoan outlined a continued focus on implementing recommendations from the Independent Review of ABC, including governance reforms, leadership structure enhancements, and improvements to committee operations and advocacy efforts.

The reappointment signals a degree of continuity at a time when Cambodia’s banking sector is navigating evolving economic conditions, regulatory developments, and increasing competition among financial institutions.
