Cambodia International Review

LIV Golf’s International Series has announced Cambodia as a new destination for its 2025 season, with the prestigious tournament set to debut at the Chhun On Golf Resort in Phnom Penh from 9-12 October. This marks the sixth of 10 LIV Golf-backed events for the season and is a significant step in showcasing Cambodia on the world sporting stage.

The event will feature an exciting lineup of LIV Golf stars alongside top players from the Asian Tour. It is expected to elevate Cambodia’s status in the global golf arena, offering both a world-class sporting spectacle and a boost to the country’s tourism and hospitality industries.

A Major Milestone for Cambodia’s Sports and Tourism Sectors

Kith Meng, Chairman of Royal Group, highlighted the importance of the event as a milestone for the development of Cambodia’s golf industry and tourism. He noted that the Royal Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, strongly supports such initiatives, which align with the government’s broader strategy to promote sporting tourism.

“Bringing the International Series to Cambodia and the Chhun On Golf Resort is a major milestone for us,” Kith Meng said. “This event will showcase Cambodia on the global sporting stage, attracting international attention and inspiring local communities to engage with sports. It will also drive growth in our tourism and hospitality industries, while highlighting the rich culture and hospitality of our nation.”

Strengthening Cambodia’s Global Golf Ties

Rahul Singh, Head of The International Series, emphasized the significance of Cambodia’s inclusion in the tournament lineup. “Expanding into Cambodia is an important step as we continue to introduce LIV Golf to new audiences, offer playing opportunities to top regional players, and support the development of the game at the grassroots level,” Singh explained.

The event builds upon strong ties between Cambodia and the Asian Tour, with the Angkor Golf Resort in Siem Reap already hosting high-profile events like the Handa Faldo Cambodian Classic in 2012 and the ADT Players Championship presented by The R&A last year.

A Strategic Move to Showcase Cambodia’s Sporting Potential

Cho Minn Thant, Commissioner & CEO of the Asian Tour, also highlighted the importance of the International Series in Cambodia’s ongoing golf development. “This event further strengthens our long-standing relationship with Cambodia, which has been a key market for the Asian Tour,” said Thant. “By adding Cambodia to the schedule, we are ensuring that the country’s growing role in global golf continues to be recognized.”

The International Series is known for its elevated prize money and its role in providing a pathway to the LIV Golf League. The addition of Cambodia to the tournament circuit underscores the nation’s emergence as a prime destination for world-class sporting events.
