Canadia Group Welcomes Philippine Trade Delegation to Discuss Business Cooperation

Cambodia Investment Review

Canadia Group hosted a delegation from the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), led by Philippine Trade Secretary Maria Cristina Aldeguer Roque and Ms Bianca Pearl R. Sykimte, Director of the DTI Export Marketing Bureau.

The delegation was received at Canadia Tower by Oknha Dr Carolyne Pung, Vice-Chairperson of Canadia Group and OCIC, and Thierry Tea, Vice-President of OCIC.

The meeting focused on practical ways for Cambodian and Philippine companies to work together and develop new commercial partnerships. Both sides discussed opportunities to build stronger links between the two business communities, share expertise and explore areas of mutual interest.

Discussions covered a wide range of sectors: healthcare, food and beverage, energy, infrastructure, education, retail, real estate, investment and aviation.

The discussions follow OCIC’s recent partnership with World Citi Colleges International, Inc. (WCCI), a Philippine education group. On 1 October 2026, OCIC and WCCI signed an agreement to establish WCC International Aero Tech University in Phnom Penh, bringing Philippine experience in aviation education and training to Cambodia. More than 30 Filipino professionals also already work within the Group.

“Our partnership with WCCI is an important first step in developing closer ties with the Philippines,” said Dr Carolyne Pung. We hope this visit will lead to more connections, greater exchanges and new projects between our two countries, particularly as the Philippines chairs ASEAN in 2026.”

With the Philippines serving as ASEAN Chair in 2026, the visit provided a timely opportunity to bring Cambodian and Philippine businesses closer together and identify new areas for cooperation across the region.

“Having started my career in the Philippines and later founded a business there, I have a strong personal connection to the Philippines,” said Thierry Tea, VP OCIC. “I see significant opportunities for Cambodia and the Philippines to work together many industries, including in healthcare, infrastructure and aviation. The next step is to turn this dialogue into concrete partnerships and projects.”

The meeting opened a broader dialogue between Canadia Group and the Philippine Government on potential areas of future cooperation.
