Cambodia Investment Review
Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra has confirmed a major leadership transition, with long-serving Area General Manager Charles-Henri Chevet set to conclude his tenure and experienced hotel executive Marc Emmanuel taking over as General Manager on 12 January 2026.
Chevet Steps Down After a Defining Era
Chevet leaves the hotel after 16 years in Cambodia — including 14 years leading Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra — a period widely associated with the property’s rise as a flagship luxury destination for international travellers, business leaders, and diplomatic guests. Emmanuel Moves From Vietnam to Lead Sofitel Phnom Penh
The incoming General Manager, Marc Emmanuel, joins from his current role as General Manager of Novotel Danang Premier Han River in Vietnam, where he has spent more than three years overseeing an Accor-branded property in a highly competitive hospitality market. His appointment reflects Accor’s emphasis on internal mobility and the development of leadership talent across regional markets.
Continuity and a Smooth Transition
Chevet expressed strong confidence in Emmanuel’s ability to lead the hotel into its next chapter, noting that the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra team will continue to provide the warmth and attention to detail guests have come to expect. Emmanuel will officially assume his position on 12 January 2026, marking the formal completion of the leadership handover and beginning a new era for the Phnom Penh property.
