First-Ever KWN Local Film Contest In The Country

Earlier this year, Panasonic Cambodia held their first-ever KWN Local Film Contest in the country, engaging 12 student teams and hundreds of student participants from across Cambodia. Two finalist teams—Paññāsāstra International School (PSIS) from the Primary Category and BELTEI International School (BELTEI) from the Secondary Category—were selected to represent Cambodia at the 36th Annual Kid Witness News (KWN) Global Summit, which was held last Saturday.

The Global summit, which was hosted online, connected to the main event in Tokyo, Japan, brought together over 3,000 young filmmakers from 11 countries—including the USA, Brazil, Japan, China, India, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, and the UAE. Each team presented films inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), showcasing powerful stories of hope, empathy, and innovation.

Students participating in KWN Cambodia used Panasonic LUMIX cameras to produce their films, capturing meaningful stories that reflect Cambodian perspectives on sustainability. The advanced imaging capabilities of LUMIX cameras empowered students to translate their visions into cinematic stories with clarity and emotional impact.

Through initiatives like KWN, Panasonic continues to champion youth development and quality education in Cambodia—alongside scholarship programs, infrastructure support, and other educational initiatives. KWN stands as a testament to Panasonic’s long-standing commitment to “Develop People Before Making Products,” inspiring young minds to build a brighter and more sustainable future.
