Oakwood Premier Phnom Penh will host a Filipino culinary event in December, bringing together chefs, business representatives and community members to showcase the Philippines’ food culture and explore opportunities for Philippine food products in Cambodia.
The hotel’s Season of Salu-Salo will take place on 2 December from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at its Grand Ballroom and Outdoor Garden. The event is supported by the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Cambodia and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (PhilCham).
The programme will include festive Filipino dishes, regional specialities and a live cooking showcase. Chefs Prince Ruecarl D. Patiño, cluster executive chef, and Teddy Castro, sous chef, from Citadines Bay City Manila will cook alongside Oakwood Premier Phnom Penh’s culinary team.
Food and Market Opportunities
The event will also present selected Philippine food products and ingredients, with organisers aiming to introduce them to Cambodian hospitality and food service businesses.
The showcase is intended to create opportunities for discussion among hospitality professionals, food importers, distributors and business representatives. Oakwood said the initiative would highlight the potential for Filipino products to enter the Cambodian market, although it did not disclose specific commercial arrangements or participating suppliers.
A Platform for Cultural Exchange
The event takes its name from salu-salo, a Filipino tradition of gathering to share a meal. Oakwood said it aims to bring together Cambodian, Filipino and international communities, including diplomatic representatives, business leaders and hospitality professionals.
The hotel, managed by The Ascott Limited, described the event as part of its effort to host international culinary experiences and cultural engagement. The programme will combine Filipino food and hospitality with opportunities to build people-to-people and business connections between the Philippines and Cambodia.
