BritCham Cambodia and the British Embassy in Phnom Penh have signed a three-year memorandum of understanding to deepen cooperation on trade, investment and support for British businesses in Cambodia.
The agreement was signed at the British Residence on November 5, formalising a longstanding relationship between the chamber and the Embassy. It will take effect immediately and be reviewed annually.
The MOU sets out shared priorities that include supporting UK companies operating in Cambodia, identifying new market opportunities and promoting a fair, rules-based trading environment.
Regular meetings and business engagement
The agreement establishes more structured coordination between the two organisations, including regular meetings and quarterly strategic roundtables at the British Residence. The discussions will involve Embassy representatives, BritCham’s board and its strategic partners.
The MOU also provides for collaboration on BritCham’s flagship events, education and business policy engagement, and the annual UK–Cambodia Joint Trade and Investment Forum.
British Ambassador to Cambodia Dominic Williams, who is also BritCham’s patron, said the agreement would formalise existing cooperation and help ensure the partnership continued beyond his tenure, which ends in 2027.
Focus on commercial opportunities
BritCham Cambodia Chair Paul Dodd said the agreement reflected a shared commitment to strengthening trade and investment ties while giving British businesses a stronger voice in Cambodia.
Executive Director Martin Darby said closer communication and coordination would help the chamber support its members, identify commercial opportunities and contribute to bilateral trade and investment.
BritCham’s membership includes British, Cambodian and international companies across sectors such as education, professional services, finance, hospitality, technology and consumer goods.
Both organisations said the partnership aims to raise the profile of UK businesses in Cambodia and support deeper commercial links between the two countries.
