BritCham Cambodia has announced the newly elected leadership of its Education Committee following an election held during the fourth BritCham Education Summit on September 15, 2026.
Sarah Thompson of CIA FIRST International School was elected Chair, while Caroline Hosegood of Reigate Grammar School Phnom Penh and Sophie Brandsar of Footprints International School were elected Vice Chairs.
The election was conducted under the guidance of BritCham Cambodia Board Member Andrew Millar, with 32 representatives from BritCham education member organisations participating.
Committee Membership Quadruples Within One Year
Since its establishment one year ago, the BritCham Education Committee has expanded from an initial 10 members to 40 members, reflecting increased engagement across Cambodia’s education sector.
The newly elected leadership is expected to guide the Committee’s efforts to strengthen cooperation among education institutions, government bodies, industry representatives and the wider BritCham business community.
Sarah Thompson Targets Strategic Collaboration
Thompson brings almost 11 years of experience in Cambodia’s education sector, covering primary and secondary education as well as college and careers guidance. Her work has included helping students secure full scholarships around the world.
“As an educator in Cambodia for almost 11 years, I have worked from Primary, to Secondary, all the way to College & Careers guidance, placing students in full scholarships around the world,” Thompson said.
“Leadership is a privilege and I am very excited to work with my Vice Chairs to create a strategic plan that facilitates meaningful collaboration between committee members, the British Embassy and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport.”
Caroline Hosegood Highlights Education and Industry Links
Hosegood said the Committee has an opportunity to connect education providers, businesses and organisations involved in developing Cambodia’s future workforce.
“I am delighted to have been elected as Vice-Chair of the BritCham Education Committee and would like to thank members for their support,” Hosegood said.
“I look forward to working alongside Sarah Thompson, Sophie Brandsar and the wider Committee to strengthen collaboration across education and industry.”
“I believe the Committee has a unique opportunity to connect people, ideas and organisations in ways that benefit students, educators, employers and the wider community, while creating meaningful value for BritCham members. I am excited to contribute to this work and help strengthen the links between education, skills development and Cambodia’s future workforce.”
Sophie Brandsar Seeks Wider Sector Collaboration
Brandsar said she was grateful for the confidence placed in her and looked forward to bringing different perspectives together across Cambodia’s education sector.
“I am very grateful for the trust placed in me through my election as Vice Chair of the BritCham Education Committee,” Brandsar said.
“I am looking forward to working alongside Sarah Thompson, Caroline Hosegood, and the wider committee to strengthen collaboration across Cambodia’s education sector, bring different perspectives together, and contribute to meaningful conversations and initiatives that support students, educators, and the wider community.”
