Small and medium-sized enterprises now hold a majority of leadership positions across EuroCham Cambodia’s sectoral committees, following elections that drew substantially more candidates than the previous cycle.
SMEs account for 54% of committee leaders elected for the 2026–2028 term, up from 38% in 2024, the chamber said at a reception in Phnom Penh on Friday. Women make up one third of elected representatives, compared with one quarter two years ago.
The number of candidates seeking committee positions rose 38% over the same period, outpacing EuroCham’s 13% membership growth. Elections have now concluded across all 12 sectoral committees.
“Committees are at the heart of EuroCham’s work,” Secretary General Dr. Antoine Fontaine said. “They bring together members facing similar challenges, help turn their experiences into practical recommendations, and give businesses a collective voice in discussions with ministries.”
Committees recognised for their work
EuroCham presented awards for work carried out during the 2024–2026 term:
- Member engagement: The Human Resources Committee was recognised for its regular meetings and monthly HR Talks.
- Events and activities: The FMCG Committee was recognised for its forums and engagement on issues including labelling, product liability and marketing.
- Advocacy: The Transport & Logistics Committee was recognised for its work on customs procedures, port operations and processing costs.
- Special recognition: The Real Estate & Construction Committee was recognised for its decade-long effort to advance Cambodia’s adoption of the Eurocodes structural design standards.
EuroCham said the Transport & Logistics Committee’s work with government had helped reduce clearance times for certain goods and cut processing costs for members.
New leaders to set two-year priorities
Each of the 12 committees will now prepare a one-page roadmap covering its advocacy priorities, partnerships and activities for 2026–2028. The plans will draw on issues raised by members during the elections and, where relevant, align with European Union priorities and support programmes.
EuroCham also presented an initiative to track administrative obstacles through a digital platform. The chamber did not provide a launch date or further details of how the platform will operate.
