The Digital & Green Innovation Accelerator (DGIx) Launches in Cambodia

Cambodia Investment Review

Cambodia’s impact-driven startup ecosystem takes a leap forward with the launch of the Digital & Green Innovation Accelerator (DGIx) Cambodia, a 9-month program designed to support ventures using digital and tech-enabled solutions for environmental sustainability. Applications for the first cohort are now open, with the first-round deadline set for February 28, 2025.

DGIx Cambodia aims to strengthen ventures to help them scale their operations and impact and attract financing. The program has two key focus areas: 1) building the capacity of ventures’ core staff; and 2) ensuring ventures are ready to engage investors or lenders.

This is the first time that the program has been brought to Cambodia. The accelerator is part of a broader global initiative, the Digital & Green Innovation (DGI) Action, a collaboration between the European Union (EU) and the governments of Germany, France, Belgium, and Estonia. In Cambodia, the program is implemented by Impact Hub Phnom Penh and the Deutsche Gesellschaft fĂźr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH with funding by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the EU.

Unlocking the Power of Digital Solutions for Sustainability

From climate adaptation and food security to circular economy solutions, sustainable supply chains and more, DGIx Cambodia seeks mission-driven ventures that are already operational and leveraging technology for positive environmental impact.

“We see huge potential for digital or tech-enabled innovations to tackle pressing environmental challenges in Cambodia,” said Melanie Mossard, CEO of Impact Hub Phnom Penh. “We’re also seeing diverse types of companies integrate digital solutions to lower their environmental footprint — another exciting impact pathway. Through DGIx Cambodia, we’re looking forward to working hand-in-hand with these mission-driven ventures.”

Stronger Ventures, Greater Impact

Selected ventures in the DGIx program will receive hands-on consultancy support, customized training and coaching for their core staff, strategic advisory and coaching for senior executives, review of financial and impact documents, new marketing materials, and more.

“Impact ventures often struggle to access the capital they need to scale,” said Jonas Herzing, Advisor at GIZ’s Digital Transformation Center (DTC) in Cambodia. “We know we can’t singlehandedly close that gap — but we can help startups navigate the steps and be in a stronger position to attract investment.”
