The Kid Witness News (KWN) Global Summit 2024 celebrated its 35th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in Panasonic’s ongoing educational support program. There are more than 3,000 young participants from 11 countries showcased their filmmaking talents, addressing key issues aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Cambodia was well-represented by students from Pannasastra International School (PSIS) and Singapore Cambodia International Academy (SCIA), who took part in the international competition with projects made using Panasonic Lumix SI cameras.

The KWN initiative underscores Panasonic’s dedication to empower the next generation of visual storytellers, highlighting the company’s commitment to foster creativity and support youth in developing critical filmmaking skills. Hisakazu Maeda, the Country Head of Panasonic Cambodia, shared his appreciation during the pre-summit awards ceremony, acknowledging the contributions of students, educational institutions, and local partners.

Panasonic Cambodia Commends Educational Partners

Mr. Maeda expressed gratitude towards the administration of PSIS and SCIA, stating, “I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the administration of Singapore Cambodia International Academy and Pannasastra International School for their active participation. Your support has given students in Cambodia the opportunity to engage in a global competition, sharing their thoughts and ideas on an international stage.”

Mr. Hisakazu Maeda addressed the gathering during the awarding ceremony.

He continued by emphasizing the significance of the students’ achievements, noting, “Today, we celebrate your remarkable talents and are excited to provide a global platform for your ideas and projects through visual media here in Cambodia.” He also thanked Sabbay Nash for providing Lumix cameras for the competition and recognized Mr. Jerry Thai for his contributions in conducting filmmaking training sessions that covered essential video-making fundamentals.

An Opportunity for Skill Development and Global Exposure

Administration of SCIA and PSIS schools expressed their appreciation during the awards ceremony.

Representatives from SCIA and PSIS expressed their appreciation for Panasonic’s initiative, highlighting the value of such programs in offering students unique opportunities for growth. The collaboration has allowed students to enhance their learning, foster teamwork, and gain practical experiences that will benefit them in their future endeavors.

Kid Witness News (KWN) is a global video education program designed to nurture creativity and communication skills in young people, while also promoting teamwork through the process of video production.
