Panasonic Cambodia marked a significant stride in supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by participating in the ‘Together Action for SDGs’ event, a three-day initiative organized by the United Nations in Cambodia and AEON MALL (Cambodia). This event aligns with Panasonic’s longstanding commitment to fostering a sustainable future.
The event featured workshops, panel discussions, and interactive activities centered around the 17 SDGs. Hundreds of attendees visited the Panasonic booth to explore and engage with the company’s sustainable business practices, which are integrated both globally and in Cambodia.
Panasonic Kids School: Fostering Conversations on Sustainability, Science, and Innovation
At the event, Panasonic launched its latest initiative, the “Panasonic Kids School,” designed to engage children in discussions on sustainability, science, and innovation through an accessible web platform available in both English and Khmer.
Mr. Hisakazu Maeda, Country Head of Panasonic Cambodia, spoke at the opening, emphasizing Panasonic’s dedication to the SDGs and the company’s collaborative goal of building a more sustainable society. “Partnering with the ‘Together Action for SDG’ event highlights Panasonic’s dedication to the SDGs and our shared goal of creating a more sustainable society. Panasonic has been making significant contributions to local communities through various initiatives, including distribution of solar lanterns to off-grid areas, conducting Eco RELAY environmental activities, enhancing football stadium infrastructure, providing scholarship grants, and by introducing the KID Witness News Global program, among others,” Mr. Maeda said.
He further explained, “At Panasonic, we believe that the future lies in the hands of the younger generation. By launching the Panasonic Kids School Website, we aim to inspire curiosity and action in children, helping them to become proactive stewards of our planet.”
Climate Action and Youth Employment: Preparing for the Future
On the second day, Ms. Nileshika Wijenaike, the Head of Communications for Panasonic in Cambodia, participated at the panel discussion on climate action and youth employment. She highlighted the importance for young people to recognize shifts in the job market driven by climate impacts, stressing the urgency for adaptation.
Ms. Wijenaike elaborated on the Panasonic Group’s “Panasonic GREEN IMPACT (PGI)” program, which aims to reduce environmental impacts across value chains while contributing to society-wide reductions in CO2 emissions. She emphasized Panasonic’s commitment to continuing awareness-raising efforts in Cambodia, supporting sustainability through programs like Eco Relay and World Action.

Throughout the event, Panasonic showcased its innovative technologies and sustainability-focused solutions, including energy-efficient appliances and eco-friendly operational practices. The company believes in the power of small actions to drive global change and remains dedicated to improving society through sustainable business practices, in line with its founder’s philosophy.
