Amidst the vibrant celebrations of Cambodia’s Water Festival, the latest InterNations Phnom Penh event created a perfect blend of business and festivity at My Way Phnom Penh last week. This latest of the monthly gatherings, which shifts its venue across the capital each month, drew in a diverse crowd of local and expat professionals, eager to connect, share experiences, and celebrate the national holiday together.

Despite the festive season and many expats being abroad, the event boasted an impressive turnout of more than 40 attendees, much to the delight of organizer Tom Starkey. He expressed his satisfaction, saying, “I’m really pleased with the strong turnout, especially given the timing during the holidays when many expats are away. It goes to show the enthusiasm and commitment of our community to build meaningful connections, even during special occasions,” he added.

Monthly Event Dazzles with Lucky Draw and Networking Opportunities

The highlight of the evening was, as always, the famous lucky draw, generously sponsored by local businesses. Attendees eagerly anticipated their chance to win a range of exciting prizes, from complimentary subscriptions to premium TV entertainment services and exclusive bottles of top-shelf spirits to tickets for upcoming events. The grand prize, a free night’s stay in a luxury resort on one of Cambodia’s stunning islands, added an extra layer of excitement to the evening.

Attendee Mariam Arthur, founder of newly opened Americana – delivery-only homemade food – said she really enjoys attending InterNations every month. “The networking event is by far one of the best Phnom Penh has to offer. Every month, I see both regulars return and get the chance to meet new faces, each with something engaging to offer. Also, the lucky draw is a great and unique addition to the night and the prizes are awesome,” she said.

Mingles Business with Water Festival Cheer, Bolstering Community Spirit

The Water Festival provided a unique backdrop for the event, infusing it with a sense of national pride and cultural celebration. Attendees reveled in the lively atmosphere, enjoying the intersection of business networking and festive merriment.

The success of the InterNations Phnom Penh event once again underscored the value of such gatherings in fostering a sense of community among both local and expat professionals. As the night unfolded with laughter, connections, and the thrill of the lucky draw, it became clear that events like these play a crucial role in creating a supportive and vibrant expat community in the heart of Cambodia.
