BRICS House Cambodia brought together approximately 200 government officials, diplomats, investors and business leaders for a Cambodia–Russia tourism and investment forum at the Ministry of Tourism on 18 September.

Organised under the theme “Cambodia Is Open – Russia Is Our Next Market,” the roadshow aimed to introduce Cambodia to more Russian tourism partners while creating opportunities for business and investment discussions. Guests of honour included H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, and H.E. Anatoly Borovik, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Cambodia. Governors, ministers and other senior representatives also attended.

Building Cambodia–Russia Tourism and Investment Links

The event was organised by BRICS House Cambodia, led by its President, Vladimir Palancica, and Vice President, Khek Khemrath. It provided a meeting point for Cambodian officials and businesses seeking closer ties with Russian tourism operators, investors and other potential partners.

For the September roadshow, Russia was the immediate focus. The forum sought to turn interest in Cambodia into stronger relationships with travel companies and investors, while giving local businesses a chance to present what the country can offer. The discussions built on earlier efforts involving Russian tourism representatives, including a visit to Siem Reap in June.

Palancica has previously identified tourism, trade and investment as areas with potential to strengthen Cambodia–Russia relations. The Phnom Penh forum brought those priorities together in a single event, with BRICS House Cambodia positioning itself as a facilitator of future introductions and cooperation.

Connecting Cambodian Businesses With BRICS Markets

BRICS takes its name from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The group has since expanded to include other emerging economies and works to strengthen cooperation among its members on economic, political and development issues. Cambodia is not a BRICS member, but BRICS House Cambodia seeks to build practical connections between Cambodian businesses and markets across the wider BRICS network.

According to the organisation’s stated mission, its work covers trade and investment, business partnerships, tourism and cultural exchange, agricultural exports, and knowledge and technology sharing. Its goal is to help Cambodian companies find international partners while giving businesses from BRICS markets a clearer route to explore opportunities in Cambodia.

The forum reflected that wider ambition while keeping its attention on a specific opportunity: expanding Cambodia’s reach into the Russian tourism market and encouraging investment discussions that could lead to future partnerships.
