Jason Kong Gin Wins International Packaging Award, Highlighting Cambodia’s Growing Craft Spirits Industry

Cambodia Investment Review

Cambodian craft spirits producer Seekers Independent Spirits has won international recognition after its Jason Kong Gin range received the top honour in the Packaging category at the Digital Label and Packaging Awards in London, while also earning a nomination in the Design category.

The awards recognise innovation in packaging and label design, with judges praising Jason Kong’s unconventional approach to premium spirits branding.

According to the judging panel, the winning entry featured “a uniquely differentiated combination of bespoke and different label and pouch spirit packaging,” describing it as a “clear winner and disruptive format for the category.”

Challenging Traditional Spirits Packaging

Developed by Seekers Independent Spirits in partnership with QLM Label Makers, the Jason Kong range departs from traditional premium gin presentation by using distinctive aluminium pouches inspired by specialty coffee packaging rather than conventional gift boxes or tubes.

The company said the design was intended to combine visual impact with practical functionality.

The aluminium pouches provide an additional layer of protection from light, helping preserve the vibrant natural colours created by the botanicals used in each gin while giving every expression a distinctive identity on retail shelves.

“From the very beginning, Jason Kong was designed to be a disruptive brand,” said Tania Unsworth, Co-Founder of Seekers Independent Spirits.

“We wanted every part of the experience to challenge expectations—not just what’s inside the bottle, but everything around it. The aluminium pouches are immediately recognisable, but they’re also functional, helping protect the naturally derived colours of our gins. It’s design with purpose.”

Innovation Supports Premium Brand Positioning

The international recognition highlights how product packaging is becoming an increasingly important differentiator within the premium spirits market, where brands compete not only on quality but also on consumer experience and shelf presence.

Seekers said the award reflects its philosophy of combining craftsmanship with creative design, demonstrating that premium packaging can deliver both commercial appeal and technical performance.

Unsworth also credited the company’s production partner, QLM Vietnam – Hoang Ha Label Co., for helping bring the concept to life.

“This award also belongs to our partners at QLM Vietnam – Hoang Ha Label Co. They helped transform an unconventional idea into packaging that is both beautiful and practical. We’re really proud to share this recognition with them,” she said.

Growing International Recognition for Cambodian Craft Spirits

The latest award adds to Seekers Independent Spirits’ growing list of international accolades and further raises the profile of Cambodia’s emerging premium craft spirits industry.

Based in Phnom Penh, Seekers produces artisan spirits inspired by Mekong botanicals and regional ingredients, positioning Cambodia alongside a growing number of Asian producers gaining recognition in international premium beverage markets.

Its Jason Kong collection has sought to differentiate itself through both distinctive botanical recipes and bold brand presentation, reflecting broader consumer demand for premium products with unique stories and innovative design.

The London award also underscores the increasing global competitiveness of Cambodian-made premium consumer products, demonstrating that local brands are gaining recognition not only for product quality but also for innovation in branding, packaging and design.
