In a signing ceremony on March 28, 2025, Manulife renewed its exclusive sponsorship of the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon. The event was attended by H.E. Vath Chamroeun, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports & Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee, and Mr. Sem Phalla, Executive Director of the Marathon Organizer in Cambodia, and was witnessed by Roy Gori, the global President and CEO of Manulife, as well as Mr. Rotha Chan, CEO and General Manager of Manulife Cambodia.
The renewal solidifies Manulife’s commitment to the ongoing exclusive sponsorship of the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon, extending the partnership until 2030. Under the terms of the agreement, the event will continue to be organized annually in December, ensuring its role as a major fixture in Cambodia’s sporting calendar.
Manulife Has Raised Over $760,000 For The Hospital
Manulife has been the principal sponsor of the annual run through the UNESCO World Heritage site since 2014, supporting its growth and reach as it grew to be a premier event on the global running community’s calendar. Additionally, in 2024, with the support of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, Manulife runners spearheaded a fundraising campaign to support the Angkor Hospital for Children raising $110,000 which went towards sustaining the health of the community through support of the hospital’s life-saving Trauma and Critical Care Centre. Since 2015, Manulife has raised over $760,000 for the hospital.
A Record-Breaking 14,370 Participants Last December
“Together, we have transformed the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon into an extraordinary event that attracts participants from all over the world to this beautiful country,” said Rotha Chan.” “The 2024 event marked a record-breaking year, with Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet and his cabinet joining 14,370 runners from 87 countries. It was inspiring to witness such enthusiasm and support. Meeting the Prime Minister was a true highlight, and I am grateful for his recognition of our efforts to contribute to the growth of the Cambodian economy.” added Chan.

Vath Chamroeun remarked on the growth of the event, saying, “Manulife’s support has been instrumental in expanding the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon from just 300 runners in 1996 to a record-breaking 14,370 participants last December, with the Prime Minister himself attending. This growth is a testament to our successful partnership and shared vision.”
