The “Navigating the Digital Future: Opportunities, Innovation, and Growth” event organized by the India Business Chamber of Cambodia (IBCC) focused on strengthening ties between India and Cambodia in the digital sector. The gathering aimed to explore future collaboration in areas such as agriculture, education, digital infrastructure, healthcare, and tourism, while acknowledging the long-standing partnership between the two nations. Senior government officials, diplomats, and business leaders from both countries attended, bringing together diverse expertise to discuss the potential for joint efforts in digitalization.

Cambodia’s Progress in Digital Transformation

Opening the event Babulal Pariha IAAC President stated in his keynote that Cambodia has made significant progress in digital transformation over the last decade. Government officials highlighted the country’s shift toward digitalization, particularly in areas such as tax submissions and public service payments. These advancements align with Cambodia’s broader goals to modernize administrative functions and improve overall efficiency in both public and private sectors.

His Excellency So Visothy, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Post and Telecommunication, represented His Excellency Chea Vandeth, Minister of the Ministry of Post and Telecommunication. He discussed how Cambodia’s digital transformation has been key to improving government services. Mr. Sophea Eng, Director of Banking Services at the National Bank of Cambodia, represented Her Excellency Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, and highlighted the country’s growing use of digital payments and fintech innovations, contributing to increased financial inclusion.

India’s Expertise in Digitalization and Potential for Collaboration

India has established itself as a leader in digitalization, particularly through advancements in digital payments, governance, and infrastructure. This experience offers valuable insights for Cambodia as it seeks to expand its digital capabilities.

Her Excellency Dr. Devyani Khobragade, Ambassador of India to Cambodia, discussed India’s digital success and the potential for collaboration with Cambodia. Indian businesses operating in Cambodia are already contributing to the country’s digital growth, with representatives from major companies sharing their experiences during the event.
