Cambodia Investment Review
During monsoon season, Takeo’s Tram Kak district has long been severely affected by natural disasters, such as typhoons and floods. In most cases, poorer communities, who are already struggling to survive, will have to carry extra burdens on their shoulders.
As an emergency response, ABA Bank has extended its support to the affected families through the Provincial Red Cross.
Recognizing the urgent need for assistance, on 22 October 2024, the donation event was held at Kus Pagoda, Tram Kak district, presided over by H.E. Vei Samnang, Takeo’s Provincial Governor and President of the Provincial Red Cross Branch. Other attendees included Tram Kak’s District Governor, the provincial Red Cross team, and ABA staff from the Takeo and Tram Kak branches.
“Today’s event showcases the strong partnership between the government and the private sector. On behalf of Takeo’s authorities and community, we express our sincere appreciation to ABA Bank for their generous donation to the families impacted by the recent natural disaster,” stated H.E. Vei Samnang during the event.
55 families received a disaster relief kit, each consisting of essential food and shelter supplies such as rice, noodles, condiments, tents, mosquito nets, blankets and so on. These kits are designed to meet the immediate needs of families, ensuring they have the necessary resources to navigate through these challenging times.
“We at ABA Bank are always ready to assist those in need, especially during times of hardships. As a long-standing partner with the Cambodia Red Cross, this collaboration has enabled us to provide consistent and impactful support to our communities,” mentioned Meas Khemera, ABA’s Takeo Provincial Manager.
Throughout the years, ABA Bank has been consistently making financial contributions to the Cambodian Red Cross. Most recently, in May 2024, the Bank donated USD 100,000 to the organization to address critical humanitarian programs across the country.
Aligning with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Framework, ABA remains committed to working towards strengthening communities through disaster relief, healthcare and social welfare services, ensuring that everyone has a better quality of life.
