Smart Axiata has kicked off a regional study trip to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, for the top eight performers of the SmartEdu University Student Development Program (USDP). The four-day trip, from August 6 to 9, will give the students a unique opportunity to explore the tech companies and startup ecosystem in Vietnam, gaining firsthand knowledge of the innovations driving the region’s technological advancements.

The 2023 SmartEdu USDP, held from December 9 to 19 last year in Phnom Penh, was an intensive 11-day stay-in bootcamp designed to provide participants with comprehensive development experiences. The program included structured workshops, simulations, group dynamics, coaching, and case studies, all aimed at enhancing the students’ business acumen through practical, hands-on learning.
Participants in the SmartEdu Program develop essential business skills that equip them with the knowledge they need to thrive in the workforce. Notably, the top eight participants are rewarded with the opportunity to participate in a fully funded study tour abroad and gain valuable industry experience with a paid internship at Smart Axiata. The top eight performers of the 2023 program were rewarded with a study trip to Vietnam, where they will be immersed in the country’s rapidly revolving tech landscape.
Highlights of the Trip
The students will visit several leading tech companies in Vietnam, where they will be introduced to the latest innovations and business strategies. They will have the chance to explore Vietnam’s vibrant startup ecosystem and engage with industry leaders who will share their experiences and insights, taking a deeper look at tech corporations such as FTP and innovative startups like VGN, Earth Venture and UpYouth.
Cultural exchange is another key aspect of the trip, fostering a sense of regional camaraderie and understanding. This combination of professional and cultural exposure will provide a well-rounded experience that will have a lasting impact on the participants as global citizens.
