In a celebration of Cambodian culture and philanthropy, Mekong Connoisseur Club and Cohiba Atmosphere co-hosted an exclusive art auction, at the historic Raffles Hotel Le Royal in Phnom Penh. The event, aptly named “Step Back in Time: An Evening of Art & Charity Celebrating Cambodia’s Golden Era,” raised $2300 to benefit Isaiah Cambodia, a charity committed to educational development for underprivileged children in Phnom Penh.
Showcasing the artwork of famed AI artist Jérémie Montessuis, the event drew inspiration from the Golden Era of Cambodia during the 1950s and 1960s. Montessuis, renowned for his unique blend of photography and AI technology, has been pivotal in evoking a sense of nostalgia and deep connection to Cambodia’s rich history through his artworks. These works served as the centerpiece of the auction and were crucial in raising funds for Isaiah Cambodia.
Artwork Resonates with The Cambodian Spirit of Community And Compassion
Senior Minister to the Royal Cambodian Government H.E. Ly Thuch graced the event with his presence, delivering a speech that extolled the virtues of community and compassion. “Tonight, we gather not just to appreciate the fine artistry of Jérémie Montessuis but also to support a noble causeIsaiah Cambodia,” remarked Thuch. “Their work resonates deeply with the Cambodian spirit of community and compassion, and they have been instrumental in uplifting the lives of many children since their inception in 2016.”
Minister Ly Thuch also seized the opportunity to acknowledge the significant contributions of the new Prime Minister, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, in creating a stable environment conducive to both economic growth and cultural revival. “Under the new leadership, we are seeing an era where peace, stability, and prosperity go hand in hand,” Ly Thuch said, alluding to the country’s optimistic trajectory.
The fundraising efforts will channel directly into Isaiah Cambodia’s educational programs for children. Rooted in Phnom Penh since 2016, the organization focuses on essential subjects like English, Mathematics, Arts and Crafts, and Moral Studies to give these children a chance for a brighter future.
