Phnom Penh’s latest monthly networking social event was hailed as one of the most diverse gatherings in Cambodia. Hosted by InterNations Ambassador Tom Starkey at Thmor Bar on Bassac Lane, the event was attended by an impressive count of 55 guests from 28 different countries, setting a record for the group.
Tom commented to Cambodia Investment Review, “This is by far the most diverse event for our group and likely in Cambodia. Our networking event has become the talk of the town, going from strength to strength.”

The event, which was sponsored by Nom Nom, a premier healthy food delivery service, served delicious skewers with an array of sauces. In addition to the gastronomic delights, the attendees were also offered raffle prizes of delivery plans by the sponsor.
An alternative to conventional networking
“We’re keeping the event fresh and exciting with new attendees, venues, and sponsors every month,” Starkey explained. “We aim to provide an alternative to conventional business networking events. Despite being a professional gathering, we maintain a relaxed atmosphere, encouraging socializing within an international crowd.”
The partnership with Nom Nom added an extra dimension to the gathering, offering attendees not only free, healthy snacks but also exclusive meal plan discounts and prizes worth over $300.

Marnix Gerits, Co-founder of Nom Nom, shared his excitement at the event’s turnout. “It was fantastic to see so many people come out to the event and enjoy themselves. We had a great mix of people from all over the world, and it was wonderful to see everyone connecting, having a good time, and of course, enjoying our snacks!”
Reflecting on the feedback received, Gerits emphasized the importance of such events for Nom Nom to showcase their healthy food options to the international crowd of InterNations.
Fantastic platform to expand connections
One of the attendees, Property Consultant Charlotte Kreoun, praised the event’s organization and diverse crowd. “I always enjoy InterNations events because they offer the opportunity to connect with people from all over the world, each with their unique personal and professional stories. It’s a fantastic platform to expand my connections in Cambodia.”

InterNations, a global community for expats, has over 4 million members spanning across 420 cities worldwide. The next networking social event in Phnom Penh is scheduled for June 9.
Tom concluded, “We’ve received great feedback and that’s the beauty of this group – we’re continually improving our events. The next one will be even bigger and better, with new sponsors and a new venue. For the first time, we’re planning to offer free-flow drinks to guests – watch this space!”
