InterNations set to launch first 2023 event with new ambassador and venue

InterNations, a leading networking community for expats present in some 420 cities worldwide, is launching the first of it’s monthly 2023 events in Phnom Penh this Friday, with some new faces in attendance.

The event, which is designed for fellow expatriates and local professionals to connect, share experiences and network, will be the first for Tom Starkey – who is the latest person to lead the InterNations Cambodia events team.

The event will be held at Penh 278

Tom said, “I’m really excited to be helping host the first InterNations event this year, especially as it ties in so closely with both the western and Chinese New Year. We’ve picked an amazing venue and so far, we have confirmed around 40 people from some 18 countries around the world.”

The event will be held at Penh 278, a popular restaurant with a spacious outdoor area, great food and even better cocktails. The event is only $8 for those who are registered and pay via InterNations, which includes a free drink of your choice – soft drink, wine, beer or cocktails – on arrival.

Tom added, “COVID has been difficult for community groups like InterNations so I’m pleased to be getting involved as we hopefully move into the post-pandemic era. There are lots of great guests coming, including CEOs, high-profile business representatives, third-sector agencies, investors, freelance nomads and much more, it’s going to be a really interesting mix with a lot to talk about.”

Despite the pandemic, InterNations official event was still up and running every month with strong support from the expats.

Support from the InterNations community in Cambodia

A fellow InterNations member said, “this community is very useful. Imagine you are moving to a foreign country, you need so much information, you have so many questions – but you’re not sure who to ask. You have to set up all the local amenities while you’re still getting used to the local language and culture. And most of all, you want to meet others who understand your situation, who share your interests and hobbies – other global minds, and new friends!”

“This is the reason why many expats come to InterNations Phnom Penh monthly official events to connect with other expats, add value to their experience and seek information and support from the InterNations community in Cambodia.”

Tom added, “friends, colleagues and family members are invited to attend the event, they just need to sign up for free here to make sure they are on the guest list. The list will be closed at 14:00 on 26 January 2023,” they added.
