Cambodia Leadership Review

As Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of TUBE Coffee, Monypich Sou has helped build one of Cambodia’s most recognizable homegrown coffee brands. Since launching the business in 2017, she has led its expansion from a single takeaway café to a nationwide network serving customers across Phnom Penh and major cities throughout the Kingdom.

Under her leadership, TUBE Coffee has evolved alongside Cambodia’s rapidly growing urban consumer market, combining affordability, quality, and innovation while creating spaces that bring communities together. Passionate about developing people and building strong teams, Monypich believes sustainable businesses are built through continuous learning, customer trust, and a commitment to long-term growth.

In this edition of 50 Khmer Women Voices 2026, Monypich reflects on the growing role of women in Cambodia’s food and beverage industry, the evolution of the TUBE Coffee brand, creating welcoming community spaces, leading in a fast-changing consumer market, and her advice for the next generation of women entrepreneurs.

Women in Cambodia’s F&B Industry

CLR: Cambodia’s food and beverage sector has become increasingly competitive and dynamic in recent years. As a female entrepreneur and business leader, how have you seen opportunities for women within the industry evolve?

Monypich: As a female entrepreneur and business leader, I have witnessed remarkable progress in the opportunities available to women within Cambodia’s food and beverage industry. Over the past several years, women have increasingly taken on important roles across all levels of the sector, from frontline operations to management and executive leadership. At TUBE Coffee, women represent approximately half of our workforce and contribute significantly across various departments, helping drive both operational excellence and business growth.

I have found that women in the industry are highly capable, adaptable, and resilient, bringing strong strengths in customer service, team leadership, and operational management. The industry today offers greater opportunities for women to develop professionally, assume leadership positions, and pursue entrepreneurial ventures of their own. I firmly believe that women bring unique perspectives, foster positive workplace cultures, and drive innovation, all of which play an important role in shaping the continued growth and success of Cambodia’s F&B sector.

Building the TUBE Coffee Brand

CLR: TUBE Coffee has grown into a well-known local lifestyle and café brand. What was your original vision for TUBE, and how has the brand evolved alongside Cambodia’s young and growing urban consumer market?

Monypich: My original vision for TUBE Coffee has remained consistent since day one: to bring the joy of coffee to Cambodian people through products that are fast, affordable, and high in quality, while building a homegrown coffee brand that can be recognized and respected both nationally and internationally.

From the beginning, we focused on creating a convenient takeaway coffee experience that aligns with the fast-paced lifestyles of Cambodia’s young and increasingly urban population.

As Cambodia’s consumer market has evolved, so have customer expectations. Today’s consumers seek more than affordability; they value quality, innovation, authenticity, and meaningful brand experiences.

In response, TUBE Coffee has continuously evolved by enhancing product quality, introducing new concepts and offerings, and investing in the overall customer experience. While our core mission remains unchanged, we have grown beyond being simply a coffee chain to become a modern Cambodian lifestyle brand that stays closely connected to local communities and reflects the aspirations of a new generation of Cambodian consumers.

Creating Safe and Comfortable Community Spaces

CLR: Coffee shops today often serve as more than just places to eat or drink, becoming “third spaces” where people can meet, work, study, and connect. How important is it for brands like TUBE to create safe, welcoming spaces for women, young people, and communities to gather?

Monypich: I strongly believe that coffee shops today should be much more than places to enjoy food and beverages; they should serve as welcoming, inclusive and safe spaces where people can relax, work, study, collaborate, and connect with their communities. As the concept of the “third space” becomes increasingly important in modern urban life, brands have a responsibility to create environments where everyone feels comfortable and valued.

At TUBE Coffee, we are committed to ensuring that all customers, particularly women and young people feel respected, secure, and welcomed whenever they visit our stores. We thoughtfully design our spaces and customer experiences to encourage social interaction, creativity, productivity, and meaningful connections. This is reflected not only in our store concepts but also in the service culture fostered by our team members.

Creating a positive and inclusive environment is about more than customer satisfaction; it is about building a sense of belonging. By providing spaces where people feel comfortable spending time, meeting others, and expressing themselves, we strengthen our relationship with customers and become a meaningful part of their daily lives, communities, and personal journeys.

Leadership and Entrepreneurship

CLR: Building and scaling a consumer-facing brand requires balancing operations, creativity, and customer expectations. How do you personally approach leadership and decision-making within Cambodia’s fast-moving F&B environment?

Monypich: Leading in Cambodia’s fast-moving F&B industry requires a careful balance between operational excellence, creativity, and a deep understanding of customer needs.

My approach to leadership is grounded in being both strategic and adaptable, ensuring that decisions are practical, timely and aligned with the realities of the market while remaining focused on the long-term vision of the brand.

In a highly competitive and rapidly evolving environment, I believe it is essential to stay close to customers, listen to feedback and continuously monitor changing consumer behaviors and market trends.

This enables us to make informed decisions quickly while maintaining consistency in quality, service, and brand standards.

Equally important is the people behind the business. I value every team member and believe that strong teamwork, open communication, accountability and mutual respect are fundamental to sustainable success.

As a leader, I strive to create a culture that encourages continuous learning, innovation, and personal growth.

When people are empowered to develop their skills, contribute ideas, and take ownership of their work, both the individuals and the organization are able to grow together.

Ultimately, my goal is to build not only a successful business, but also a resilient team and a brand that continues to evolve with the needs of Cambodia’s consumers.

Advice for Future Women Entrepreneurs

CLR: What advice would you give to young Cambodian women who are interested in starting businesses or building their own brands in Cambodia’s growing consumer and lifestyle sectors?

Monypich: My advice to young Cambodian women who aspire to start businesses or build their own brands is to believe in your ideas, trust your abilities and never be afraid to start small. Every successful business begins with a single step and growth often comes through persistence, patience, and continuous improvement rather than overnight success.

It is important to focus on truly understanding your customers, delivering consistent quality and building a brand with a clear identity and purpose.

In today’s competitive consumer and lifestyle sectors, authenticity and trust are just as important as innovation. Customers connect with brands that have meaningful stories and values behind them.

I also encourage young entrepreneurs to invest in people and build strong teams. No business succeeds alone. Surround yourself with individuals who share your vision, empower them to grow and create a culture based on trust, respect, and collaboration. Strong businesses are ultimately built by strong people.

Most importantly, remain committed to learning.

Seek mentorship, listen to advice from experienced leaders, stay curious, and view challenges as opportunities to grow.

Entrepreneurship is a journey filled with both successes and setbacks, but resilience, adaptability, and a long-term vision will help you navigate that journey. Cambodia offers tremendous opportunities for the next generation of women entrepreneurs and I hope more young women will have the confidence to pursue their ambitions and create brands that make a meaningful impact on our communities and our country.
