BAM Media Expands into Live Sports with Exclusive Local Broadcasting Partnership for KF Arena’s Kun Khmer Debut on June 26

Cambodia Investment Review

BAM Media is entering the live sports broadcasting sector for the first time through an exclusive partnership with KF Arena, a new premium combat sports platform seeking to elevate Kun Khmer onto the international stage while creating new opportunities for sponsorship, tourism and investment in Cambodia’s sports industry.

The agreement will see BAM Media serve as the exclusive local broadcaster for KF Arena 01: Day One, while FightBookMMA will act as the event’s exclusive international broadcast partner, providing global distribution from the inaugural event.

The partnership marks a significant strategic step for BAM Media as it expands beyond news, business and lifestyle content into live sports and event broadcasting.

Speaking to Cambodia Investment Review, BAM Media Co-Founder Hugo Morel said the opportunity was driven by both cultural and commercial considerations.

“What attracted us first was the opportunity to support and elevate one of Cambodia’s most iconic cultural sports,” Morel said.

“Kun Khmer is much more than a combat sport. It is part of Cambodia’s heritage, identity and history.”

According to Morel, the collaboration aligns with BAM Media’s broader mission of promoting Cambodian culture, arts and talent while developing new content verticals capable of engaging digital audiences.

Live Sports Opens a New Growth Channel

Morel described live sports as a natural extension of BAM Media’s growth strategy due to its unique combination of competition, storytelling, entertainment and community engagement.

Beyond broadcasting the fights themselves, BAM plans to create a wider content ecosystem around KF Arena, including athlete profiles, interviews, behind-the-scenes features, highlights and social media content designed to keep audiences engaged before, during and after events.

“For us, this partnership is not only about broadcasting fights,” Morel said. “It is about helping bring Cambodian talent and Cambodian culture to a bigger stage.”

He added that BAM’s audience closely reflects Cambodia’s broader digital population, creating a strong foundation for engagement around Kun Khmer, which already enjoys a passionate domestic following.

“Every fighter has a story, and media plays an important role in helping athletes build their profile, inspire younger generations and gain recognition beyond the ring,” he said.

KF Arena Targets Premium Positioning

Sov Men, Co-founder of KF Arena, told Cambodia Investment Review that selecting BAM Media as the exclusive local broadcaster was a deliberate decision tied to the organization’s ambition to create a premium sports entertainment product rather than a traditional fight promotion.

“When we conceptualized KF Arena, we knew immediately that we had to break away from the outdated, legacy television broadcasting models,” Sov said.

“We weren’t looking for a traditional camera crew. We were looking for a narrative engine.”

Sov said BAM’s ability to tell compelling human stories around fighters, combined with its understanding of digital culture and audience engagement, made it the ideal partner.

“What makes Kun Khmer spectacular isn’t just the three or five rounds inside the ropes. It’s the human element,” he said.

Through fighter-focused storytelling, podcasts, locker-room access and digital content, KF Arena hopes to build stronger emotional connections between athletes and audiences while expanding the sport’s reach among younger viewers.

Building Commercial Value Through Exclusivity

KF Arena has adopted an exclusive distribution model, partnering solely with BAM Media in Cambodia and FightBookMMA internationally.

According to Sov, exclusivity allows the organization to maintain quality control, strengthen brand positioning and create greater value for sponsors and commercial partners.

“Exclusivity is the foundation of premium brand positioning,” he said.

“Instead of diluting our product across multiple fragmented channels, we funnel our audience into a singular, highly engaged community.”

He added that centralized distribution helps maximize sponsor exposure by integrating branding into digital content capable of reaching audiences well beyond the venue itself.

“When we secure cross-border distribution from Day One, the ROI for our brand partners skyrockets,” Sov said.

A Platform for Sports Tourism and International Exposure

Both BAM Media and KF Arena believe the partnership has the potential to support Cambodia’s wider ambitions in sports tourism and international promotion.

Morel said increased global exposure for Kun Khmer could help attract international fighters, audiences and visitors interested in experiencing the sport and its cultural roots firsthand.

“As international interest grows, Cambodia could attract more visitors coming specifically to experience Kun Khmer, attend events, train locally or discover the culture behind the sport,” he said.

Sov similarly believes the platform can help reshape international perceptions of Cambodia’s sports and entertainment sector.

“Khmer martial arts are already world-class in terms of skill and heart. What was missing was the proper frame to showcase this masterpiece to the world,” he said.

By combining traditional cultural elements with premium event production and international distribution, KF Arena aims to position Cambodia as a destination for world-class martial arts events while creating new opportunities for athletes, sponsors and investors.
