Next Step Football Club (NSFC), an emerging professional team in the Cambodian league, has teamed up with recruitment and relocation company Next Step International (NSI), in a deal which will see the latter help hire, move and adapt the latest quality football talent from around the world to the Kingdom.

The deal was signed between Mr. Charlie Pomroy, founder of NSFC and Tom Starkey, Co-Founder of NSI during a ceremony at Cambodia My 2nd Home (CM2H) offices in Phnom Penh last week.

Mr. Kelvin Law, President of BPVE News – a member of Vanguard Century Group – was also in attendance to sign a partnership with the club as an official media sponsor, along with DESPORTOL, the club’s new kit sponsor and manufacturer.

Goal scoring opportunities in Cambodia

Speaking on the partnership, Founder of NSFC Mr. Charlie Pomroy, said this deal provides added value to the proposition for foreign players to enter the Cambodian premier league.

“This deal strengthens our foundations and opens up a wider network globally. Being connected to sporting talent in the global network is vital for our club. We look forward to being able to offer not only a smooth recruitment process between clubs and players but a rapid adaption process for new arrivals, now possible via our partners,” he added.

“We want to deliver not only quality international recruitment and relocation services for our clients but relish the chance to work with those who ensure a social impact,” he said.

“NSI was birthed out of the need for foreign talent in Cambodia to complement its development in the areas where there are currently skill gaps. If we can fulfil these needs and help develop future talent in the Kingdom, it’s a winning formula,” he added.

Pioneering new Cambodian football ventures

Mr. Pomroy said that long term, NSFC plans to connect more with international opportunities, namely through foreign schools, clubs, academies, and universities, which NSI can help facilitate through their platform and resources.

“Partnering with NSI, who are uniquely placed in what they offer, allows us to reallocate precious resources and begin looking at the possibility of being able to create a service going the other way, with the same fundamentals in place, and that is exciting,” he said.

Next Step FC was founded by UK national Mr Pomroy, who prior to pioneering new Cambodian football ventures was part of amateur and professional football for over 20 years.

Next Step International was founded by two international entrepreneurs with a love for Cambodia, who want to see it on a map as a place to live and work.

Mr. Starkey said, “the international model is that sharing skills has and always will be beneficial to any country. It has been proven before in Asia and Cambodia is a prime example of how it will be proven again. Our success is the Kingdom’s success, and we stand behind driving forward development through our means.”
