ZO Motors (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. and Banjaran Asset Management (Cambodia) Plc. have signed a Strategic Collaboration Agreement aimed at supporting Cambodia’s green economy ambitions through electric vehicle infrastructure, local manufacturing and innovative agricultural financing initiatives.

The agreement was formalized during a signing ceremony at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra Hotel on June 14, attended by senior government officials and corporate executives, including His Excellency H.E. Focus on agricultural financing

A central component of the collaboration is the development of the Kasekam Insurance Fund (K-Fund), which seeks to improve access to long-term financing for Cambodia’s agricultural sector.

The initiative is designed to channel institutional investment into companies and projects that support local farmers and strengthen agricultural value chains, while operating within the regulatory oversight of the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia.

Banjaran Asset Management said the fund aims to deepen Cambodia’s financial markets by offering professionally managed investment products backed by governance and custodial safeguards intended to protect investor interests.

Expanding Cambodia’s electric vehicle ecosystem

The agreement also supports the continued expansion of Cambodia’s electric vehicle industry through investment in charging infrastructure and domestic manufacturing.

ZO Motors said it plans to continue developing EV charging stations across the country while advancing construction of what it describes as Cambodia’s first commercial electric vehicle assembly plant in Pursat province.

The facility is expected to manufacture “Made-in-Cambodia” electric vehicles for both domestic use and regional export markets, while supporting local employment and industrial development.

Regulatory support for market development

Speaking during the ceremony, SERC Director-General H.E. Sou Socheat said the collaboration demonstrates how private sector partnerships can help address financing needs in productive sectors while contributing to the diversification of Cambodia’s capital markets.

He encouraged both companies to maintain strong governance standards and comply with applicable regulations to preserve investor confidence as the initiative moves forward.

The signing ceremony was attended by senior executives from both organisations, including ZO Motors Global CEO He Dong, Regional CEO Zhao Wenbo and Executive President Dr. IM Sothearith, alongside Banjaran Asset Management CEO and Executive Director Eric Loo.

The collaboration comes as Cambodia continues to promote sustainable investment, green transportation and capital market development as part of its broader economic modernization strategy.
