European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (EuroCham) members have selected seven new board of directors from nine candidates before reinstating Mr. Tassilo Brinzer as Chairman at the EuroCham 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.

Who was elected at the 2022 EuroCham AGM

This was the first year that EuroCham initiated electronic voting which involved members being emailed a link to vote for the candidates of their choosing.

The Board of Directors is composed of 12 members: five members are nominated by the founding associations (CCIFC, ADW and BritCham) and the remaining seven are elected for a term of two years

According to EuroCham regulations, a minimum of seven members hold European Union passports and no more than four are from the same country.

After a few technical glitches, a quorum was finally reached and members were duly presented with nine candidates to fill the seven available positions on the board of directors.

Each candidate was thus given two minutes to stake their claim before members were then given the chance to vote.

The seven newly elected board of directors include:

  • Ms. Géraldine Adolh (CEO, American Hardwood Flooring)
  • Mr. Narath Chheav (Senior Advisor on Private Sector Partnerships at RULE)
  • Mr. Marco Juliá Eggert (General Manager, Seekers Spirits)
  • Ms. Julie Keo (Legal Consultant and Business Development Specialist, DFDL)
  • Mr. Etienne Kettenmeyer (CEO, I-Finance LEasingPLC)
  • Mr. David Sok Dara Marshall (Group Chief Financial Officer, ISI Group)
  • Dr. Sok Siphana (Founding Partner, Sok Siphana & Associates)

The results reflected the diversity of EuroCham, something many candidates mentioned in their pitch, including Ms. Géraldine Adolh, one of two females elected to the board who stated that her aim was to “see more women in positions of power”.

  • Mr. David Sok Dara Marshall as Treasurer of the Board
  • Mr. Antoine Fontaine will serve as Secretary General of the Board
  • Mr. Martin McCarthy and Mr. Matthew Rendal will both serve as a Vice-Chairperson

Following the AGM the newly constituted board stated: “Congratulations to the new members of the EuroCham board; once again we have excellent professionals on our governing body, with great knowledge of the Cambodian market and driven by the desire to promote Cambodia, while helping to create a more investment friendly environment. I look forward to working with the new board in the coming years”.

EuroCham 2021 Financial Report

The chamber also released its annual “Year in Review”, which covered the achievements of the chamber, as well as its audited finances.

The chamber reported a total year-on-year loss of around $180,000, however, it should be noted this does not factor in some grants and other incomes that are to be accounted for in 2022.

EuroCham Chairman Mr. Tassilo Brinzer opening remarks detailed the problems the chamber had gone through during Covid-19, as well as their current growth and rebounding to almost pre-pandemic levels.
