In a move designed to bolster the visibility of local sports and fortify community engagement, WeWatch, a leading digital entertainment platform in Cambodia, has unveiled its strategic partnership with the rising Cambodian football team, Next Step Football Club (NSFC).

The announcement was made at a grand launch event held earlier this week. The event was a lively affair, featuring a dinner for the NSFC team and a live-streamed football match between Cambodia and Indonesia, demonstrating WeWatch’s commitment to promoting local sporting events. As an added perk, attendees were gifted a one-month free subscription to WeWatch, a gesture that was warmly received by NSFC players and the broader sports community present at the event.

WeWatch, known for its extensive catalogue of eGames, international movies, news, and award-winning content, is now extending its reach into the realm of sports. Sarah Wang, the CEO of WeWatch, spoke about the significant potential of this collaboration during the launch ceremony.

Quality localized entertainment to customers

“This partnership with NSFC is exhilarating,” Wang said. “It provides us with a unique opportunity to use our platform to showcase Cambodia’s talented athletes while fulfilling our mission to deliver quality localized entertainment for our customers in Cambodia.”

On the other side of the partnership, NSFC Head Coach Charlie Pomroy was equally enthused. Speaking at the event, he shared his admiration for the WeWatch platform and his excitement about the partnership.

“We’ve been hearing a lot about WeWatch recently, and as a user of the platform, I’m thrilled to sign this partnership,” Pomroy said. “The timing of this event, in the middle of Cambodia hosting the SEA Games, couldn’t have been more perfect. We’re grateful to WeWatch for providing our players and the sports community here in Siem Reap with a night to remember.”

Ensure games are accessible to Cambodian fans

Pomroy also addressed some of the challenges NSFC faced in the past season, notably the lack of a TV deal which made streaming games difficult. He revealed that for the upcoming season, BPVE has been brought on as the official media partner for NSFC, and he expressed hope that together they could collaborate with WeWatch to ensure that every NSFC game is available to fans both in Cambodia and around the world.

“We’re grateful for WeWatch’s support and eagerly anticipate working together to grow our sports community,” Pomroy added.

This partnership signifies a significant milestone for the Cambodian sports community. It underscores the increasing commitment of the private sector to bolster local sports teams and lends credibility to WeWatch’s dedication to promoting local sports.

Through this collaboration, WeWatch is creating a platform for emerging talent to showcase their abilities, contributing to the growth and development of Cambodia’s sports ecosystem, and potentially inspiring the next generation of sporting talent in the region. This partnership undoubtedly marks a promising new chapter for Cambodian sports.
