Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Day 2025 highlighted how women-led enterprises are becoming a driving force in the country’s shift toward a sustainable and inclusive economy.

Held under the theme “From Vision to Action: Women Entrepreneurs Drive a Greener Future,” the annual event gathered around 300 women business leaders, policymakers, and innovators to discuss practical strategies for integrating environmental responsibility into business operations.

Women at the Core of Economic Growth

According to Cambodia’s Economic Census 2022, women lead or own roughly 70% of all economic units in the country — underscoring their vital contribution to local production, job creation, and community development. Yet, many continue to operate in the informal sector, limiting access to formal financing, incentives, and development opportunities.

At the closing ceremony, H.E. Hem Vanndy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation, stressed that sustainability is now an essential standard for competitiveness.

“Moving toward green production, transparent supply chains, and ethical business is not just a trend—it is the new standard for global trade,” he said.

Pushing for Practical Green Solutions

The minister acknowledged the challenges that women entrepreneurs face in adopting greener practices, particularly the upfront costs of eco-friendly materials, renewable energy systems, and green certifications. However, he encouraged taking practical first steps, such as tracking energy consumption, minimizing waste, and sourcing sustainable raw materials from local producers.

He also noted the government’s continued push for green manufacturing, renewable energy adoption, and cleaner supply chains — efforts that align with Cambodia’s broader sustainability goals and industrial modernization agenda.

Celebrating Leadership and Innovation

The 2025 event concluded with awards recognizing nine outstanding women entrepreneurs for their contributions to job creation, business growth, and innovation in sustainable products and services. Their success stories showcased the determination and leadership of Cambodian women in shaping a greener economic future.

As Cambodia accelerates its green growth strategy, women entrepreneurs are increasingly taking center stage — proving that inclusive and sustainable development can go hand in hand with enterprise and innovation.
