Cambodia Investment Review
Cambodia has unveiled its first Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Portal, a new online platform designed to help businesses navigate and benefit from the Kingdom’s expanding network of trade agreements. The initiative, launched in Phnom Penh by the Ministry of Commerce in partnership with the Australian Government, aims to strengthen Cambodia’s export competitiveness as the country prepares for its transition from Least Developed Country (LDC) status.
New trade tool to support exporters
Modelled on Australia’s own FTA Portal, the bilingual platform consolidates key information on all 11 of Cambodia’s current trade agreements. It provides details on tariff schedules, exporter registration procedures, product-specific rules, and certificates of origin, giving local and international firms a central reference point to make informed trade decisions.
Minister of Commerce Cham Nimul described the platform as an important step toward lowering barriers and expanding Cambodia’s participation in global markets. She noted that the launch aligns with broader ASEAN efforts to deepen regional economic integration through the enhancement of bloc-wide and partner-country trade agreements.

Trade growth underlines need for better market access
According to the General Department of Customs and Excise, Cambodia’s international trade reached USD 59.13 billion in the first 11 months of 2025, representing year-on-year growth of 17%. Officials said the new portal will play a key role in supporting exporters as demand rises and competition intensifies.
Australia’s Ambassador to Cambodia, Derek Yip, said the tool will be increasingly essential as the country approaches LDC graduation. He highlighted that clearer access to tariff information and commitments across different FTAs will help Cambodian companies compare market entry conditions and export more competitively.

Collaboration with government, business and development partners
The portal’s development involved extensive consultations with ministries, business associations and private sector users, alongside technical assistance from Australia delivered through the Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAPRED). More than 200 participants from government agencies, development partners and private companies attended the launch event at the Ministry of Commerce.
Officials confirmed the platform will be updated as new agreements come into force, enabling exporters to access information on emerging markets and compliance requirements.
