Banjaran Asset Management (Cambodia) is set to launch its first public fund and collective investment scheme in Cambodia, pending approval from the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia and in accordance with the law and regulations in the securities sector. This is a significant milestone in the Kingdom’s financial services sector as it will be one of the first retail funds available to the general public.

The fund aims to provide Cambodian investors with alternative investment opportunities beyond traditional bank deposits. It will be managed by Banjaran Asset Management (Cambodia), with Stronghold Trustee acting as the trustee and Singapore-based Banjaran Asset Management serving as the investment adviser.

Access to international investment opportunities

This groundbreaking collaboration between the two firms will offer Cambodian investors access to international investment opportunities without the need to travel to foreign financial centers such as Hong Kong and Singapore. Banjaran Asset Management (Cambodia) is proud to be contributing to the development of Cambodia’s financial services sector, and this launch demonstrates their commitment to providing international fund management expertise and governance practices.

Lee noted that the launch of Banjaran Asset Management (Cambodia) first fund incorporates international fund management expertise and governance practices. Moreover, he emphasized that local Cambodians have been trained for various roles within the fund management ecosystem, facilitating knowledge and skill transfer.

Banjaran Asset Management $5B under management

Banjaran Asset Management (Cambodia) was established in the Kingdom of Cambodia in 2022, with a fund management license issued by the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia. The company is a joint venture between Singapore-based Banjaran Holdings Pte Ltd, Best Magnet Capital Co., Ltd, and Primo Plus Co., Ltd. Banjaran Holdings and Banjaran Asset Management (Cambodia) are related entities.

Stronghold Trustee was the first Full-Licensed Trustee after the Cambodian Trust Law’s promulgation in 2019. The company specializes in trust services, offering Collective Investment Schemes and Personal and Commercial trusts tailored to clients’ needs. Stronghold Trustee is part of the Stronghold Group of Companies, which has its roots in Taiwan.

Banjaran Asset Management Pte Ltd (BAMPL) was incorporated in Singapore in 2014 and currently holds a Capital Market Services license in fund management, issued by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. BAMPL’s primary business activity is investment management, with its funds distributed through private banks and investment banks across Asia and the UK.

As a leading provider of multifamily office services in Singapore, BAMPL’s assets under management amount to approximately US$5 billion (as of December 31, 2022) in various asset classes, including private and listed equities, private and listed debts, alternative investments, ESG-focused investments, and real estate investments.

Significant step in Cambodia’s financial services sector

The launch of the retail fund by Banjaran Asset Management (Cambodia) and Stronghold Trustee represents a significant step in Cambodia’s financial services sector development, offering local investors new opportunities to grow their wealth.
