ACLEDA Bank Plc., âThe bank you can trust, the bank for the peopleâ hereby announces that it officially launches Cross-Border Payment via QR Code in Cambodia, Phase 2: Laos Scans KHQR Code, with the aim of spreading information to the public about expanding the scope and promoting digital payments to strengthen economic ties between Cambodia and Laos, as well as contributing to the promoting tourism sector in both countries, especially to achieve the ASEAN vision of linking digital payment systems in the community. The ceremony was held under the high presidency of H.E Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, and H.E Bounkham Vorachit, Governor of the Bank of the Lao PDR.
The Settlement Banks for Cross-Border Payment between Cambodia and Laos

ACLEDA Bank Plc. and ACLEDA Bank Lao Ltd. have been selected as the Settlement Banks for Cross-Border Payment between Cambodia and Laos for accepting payment in local currencies in each otherâs countries (KHR vs LAK), initiated by the National Bank of Cambodia and the Bank of the Lao PDR. It should be noted that on August 18, 2023, ACLEDA Bank successfully launched Cross-Border Payment via QR Code in Laos, Phase 1: Cambodia scans Laos QR code, in order to promote the wide use of Khmer Riel for settlement in the ASEAN region and financial inclusion in line with integration of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). This cross-border collaboration between Cambodia (KHQR) and Laos (Lao QR) demonstrates the development of ACLEDA Bank, which has successfully launched cross-border QR payments between Cambodia and other countries in the ASEAN region.
The official Launch of Cross-Border Payment between Cambodia and Laos, Phase 2: Laos Scans KHQR Code, will expand the possibility for Lao citizens traveling to Cambodia to make payments for goods and/or services by scanning the KHQR codes of merchants across Cambodia using mobile banking applications from Lao banking and financial institutions. This cross-border QR Code payment allows Lao customers and the public to purchase goods and make payments conveniently and safely while traveling in Cambodia by simply scanning the QR Code. This digital payment system will improve payments for tourists and companies, strengthen the local currencies of both countries, facilitate payment transactions, and reduce operating costs.
