Phnom Penh is set to welcome some of the biggest names in golf this November, as Vattanac Golf Resort partners with the Legends Tour to stage the inaugural Vattanac Legends Championship. The three-day tournament, scheduled for November 21–23, 2025, will be the first Legends Tour event ever held in Cambodia.

The landmark championship will feature Ryder Cup captains, Major winners, and international golf stars, cementing Cambodia’s place on the global sporting calendar. With international broadcast coverage across Europe, Asia, and beyond, the event is expected to spotlight Phnom Penh as a destination for both sport and tourism.

A Milestone for Cambodian Sport and Tourism

Vattanac Golf Resort, designed by six-time Major champion Sir Nick Faldo and managed by Troon Golf, boasts two award-winning championship courses that integrate Khmer cultural heritage into their design. Hosting a Legends Tour event is seen as a significant achievement for the Vattanac Group, whose portfolio spans banking, real estate, hospitality, luxury retail, and beverages.

“This championship will showcase not only our world-class facilities but also the pride, resilience, and hospitality of the Cambodian people,” said Neak Oknha Sam Ang Vattanac, Executive Director of Vattanac Group. “By bringing Ryder Cup captains and Major winners to Phnom Penh, we are opening a new chapter for Cambodian sport and tourism. This tournament will inspire our youth, strengthen international ties, and position Cambodia as a destination for world-class golf.”

Global Tour Comes to Phnom Penh

For the Legends Tour, the decision to expand into Cambodia reflects the country’s growing appeal as a golf tourism hub. “The Legends Tour is delighted to announce its partnership with Neak Oknha Vattanac and The Vattanac Group to deliver Cambodia’s inaugural premier global professional golf tournament,” said Phil Harrison, CEO of the Legends Tour.

Harrison pointed to recent developments such as the opening of the Techo International Airport and Cambodia’s increasing investment in hospitality as evidence that the country is ready for international sporting events of this scale. “Set against the backdrop of the stunning Nick Faldo–designed course at Vattanac Golf Resort, this tournament promises to be a standout occasion on the Legends Tour calendar,” he added.

Cambodia’s Push for International Exposure

The championship comes at a time when Cambodia is actively seeking to raise its international profile through sport and tourism. Beyond showcasing the country’s golf facilities, the event is expected to generate significant exposure for Cambodian businesses and reinforce the country’s reputation as a rising destination in Southeast Asia.

Vattanac Brewery and Vattanac Bank, both partners in the event, highlight the broader ambitions of the Vattanac Group to link Cambodia’s cultural heritage with global partnerships. For many, the Vattanac Legends Championship represents not just a sporting event, but also a platform for national pride and economic opportunity.
