Cambodia Investment Review
CamEd Business School has celebrated a major academic milestone after Cambodian student Neav Suntrabot secured the top global ranking in the Foundations in Financial Management (FFM) exam under the UK-based Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) program for the June 2025 session.
The recognition was marked during a ceremony on September 5 at CamEd Business School, attended by senior officials, faculty, and the student’s family. The event was presided over by H.E. Prof. Ngy Tayi, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, alongside Casey Barnett, President of CamEd Business School.
Building Global Competitiveness
Casey highlighted the achievement as a reflection of both individual talent and Cambodia’s rising academic standards. He noted that in the school’s early years, no global prize winners emerged, but with steady improvements to teaching quality and the recruitment of highly experienced lecturers, CamEd students are now consistently securing international prizes.
“This result demonstrates that Cambodian youth have the ability to study, acquire skills, and compete successfully with peers from the UK, Singapore, Malaysia, and beyond,” Casey said. He added that Suntrabot’s success was built on hard work, discipline, and guidance from the school’s faculty.
To mark the achievement, CamEd announced it would sponsor Suntrabot on a study visit to the United States, reinforcing the school’s commitment to nurturing talent that can operate on a global stage.
Strengthening Cambodia’s Accounting Sector
During his remarks, H.E. Prof. Ngy Tayi praised the student’s accomplishment as a source of national pride and commended CamEd’s role in advancing Cambodia’s accounting and auditing standards. He pointed to the introduction of international accounting frameworks — such as IFRS, locally known as CIFRS — as pivotal in building transparency and investor confidence.
“CamEd’s contribution has been vital in strengthening transparency in financial reporting and tax declarations, supporting Cambodia’s economic development,” he said.
He also noted that the school’s international accreditations — including recognition from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) in the United States and its status as a Platinum Approved Learning Partner from ACCA UK — underline its quality standards.
A Symbol of National Pride
Suntrabot, currently enrolled in CamEd’s Bachelor of Accounting and Finance + CAT program, achieved the highest score worldwide in FFM, outperforming thousands of students who sat for the same exam across multiple countries.
Officials emphasized that the accomplishment is not only a personal milestone but also a symbol of Cambodia’s growing ability to compete academically and professionally at an international level.
“Successes like this honor not only the student and his family but also the entire nation of Cambodia,” said H.E. Prof. Tayi, encouraging other students to continue striving toward excellence.
