Raffles Hotel Le Royal will host an exclusive wine-pairing dinner on Thursday, May 23, showcasing six exceptional wines from South Australia, each presented by its own winemaker. Titled “Meet Your Maker – South Australian Wine Connect Dinner,” the event will be held at the iconic Restaurant Le Royal, with tickets priced at USD 65 net per person.
Attendees will experience a carefully curated evening of wine and cuisine, with the wines complemented by a specially designed menu from Executive Chef Martin Becquart. This fusion of refined food and fine wine highlights both the craftsmanship behind South Australian wine and the growing appetite in Cambodia for quality international dining experiences.
Bridging Cultures Through Wine and Trade
Supported by Wine Australia and the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (AusCham), the dinner underscores the importance of soft diplomacy and trade connectivity through gastronomy. South Australia is globally regarded as the heartland of Australian winemaking, and this event provides a rare opportunity to connect directly with the people behind the bottles.
Speaking ahead of the event, Darren Gall, Southeast Asia-based wine consultant and Australian wine advocate, noted the significance of such engagements for regional visibility.
“Bringing South Australia’s winemakers to Phnom Penh is more than just a tasting—it’s a celebration of storytelling, shared values, and the natural affinity between Australian quality and Cambodian hospitality,” Gall said. “It’s about elevating the conversation around wine, trade, and experience.”
An Elegant Venue for a High-Caliber Experience
Raffles Hotel Le Royal, with its colonial grandeur and longstanding reputation for hosting dignitaries and leaders, is a fitting venue for the evening. Guests will be guided through each pairing by the winemakers themselves, offering not just tasting notes, but deeper insights into the heritage and innovation of South Australian vineyards.
Chef Martin Becquart’s cuisine will reflect the diversity and versatility of the wines, creating a seamless dialogue between food and drink.
