The Singapore Club Cambodia (SCC) has officially announced the appointment of Yeong Hock Ming as the 15th Executive Committee President, following its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on April 25, 2025, at Himawari Hotel Apartments. As part of the leadership transition.

Outgoing President Andrew Tay, OStJ, reflected on his two-year term, highlighting efforts to strengthen SCC’s role as a social, business, and community platform for Singaporeans in Cambodia. Tay emphasized the club’s achievements in fostering strategic partnerships across chambers, associations, and institutes, while organizing milestone events that expanded SCC’s network and deepened its community engagement.

“As I prepare to pass the torch, I am confident the new leadership will continue to uphold the SCC mission and guide it to even greater heights,” Tay said during his remarks, acknowledging the challenges ahead amid a backdrop of global economic uncertainty.

A 32-Year Legacy and Continued Growth Plans

During the meeting, former 9th SCC President Peter Ng Meng Cheng revisited the history of the organization, tracing its founding back to August 18, 1992, when it was initially established as the Singapore Businessmen’s Association in Cambodia (SBAC). Official endorsement was received from Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce on March 30, 1993, with the association rebranded to Singapore Club Cambodia in 1995.

Peter, who led significant constitutional reforms during his presidency in 2015, noted that SCC has evolved from a young organization to a well-established platform supporting both social and business networking activities for Singaporeans in Cambodia. “With our new name and solid foundation, SCC continues to expand and offer members access to new programmes, training opportunities, and business initiatives,” Peter said.

New Leadership Focus: Community, Business, and Sports

Accepting the leadership role, Yeong Hock Ming expressed deep gratitude to the outgoing committee and its members for their trust and support. He described SCC not just as an organization, but as a family powered by its members’ involvement and passion.

“As we look ahead, our vision remains clear — to bring the Singaporean community in Cambodia even closer together,” Yeong said. He outlined three key focus areas for his term: enhancing community celebrations, expanding business networking opportunities, and promoting sports activities to foster camaraderie and wellness.

Yeong also paid tribute to the Singaporean pioneers who helped lay the foundation for the SCC, acknowledging their continued mentorship and inspiration for future generations. “I believe in the power of unity. No one stands alone in this journey. Together, we will build a stronger, more connected community,” he said.

Founded over three decades ago, SCC has become a central pillar for Singaporeans in Cambodia, offering a trusted platform for professional collaboration, cultural celebration, and social engagement. The new leadership aims to build on this legacy amid Cambodia’s evolving economic landscape.
