Cambodia Investment Review
The Philippines-Cambodia Business Forum, co-hosted by the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), took place today at the Rizal Ballroom, Makati Shangri-La Hotel, Manila. The event coincided with the official visit of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, bringing together business leaders, investors, and senior government representatives from both countries to explore trade and investment opportunities.
Expanding Economic Collaboration
The forum attracted more than 240 participants, including business and industry leaders, alongside a high-level Cambodian delegation led by the prime minister. Discussions centered on expanding bilateral trade and investment across key sectors, including agriculture and food processing, IT and digital technology, manufacturing, tourism, and services.
In his keynote address, Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized the strong economic relationship between Cambodia and the Philippines, pointing to the role of trade agreements in driving Cambodiaâs economic growth and improving its global competitiveness. He expressed optimism that the forum would further unlock the economic potential between the two nations.
Neak Oknha Kith Meng, president of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and chair of ASEAN-BAC Cambodia, noted the significance of the visit, stating that it symbolizes a renewed commitment to fostering economic ties and increasing investor confidence in both countries.
Consul Enunina V. Mangio, president of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, highlighted the natural synergies between the two economies, citing Cambodiaâs rapid economic transformation and the Philippinesâ strong growth trajectory as key drivers for deeper business collaboration.
The forum concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the CCC and PCCI, aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation and increasing trade and investment flows. The agreement is expected to create new opportunities for businesses in both countries by facilitating market access and business matchmaking initiatives.
Cross-Border Investment and Business Climate
The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Business Association in Cambodia (PhilCham Cambodia) also played an active role in the forum. Benlida Fernando, president of PhilCham Cambodia, described the event as a valuable platform to promote investment in both countries. She emphasized the importance of raising awareness of Cambodiaâs business climate among Philippine investors while also encouraging Cambodian businesses to explore opportunities in the Philippines.
With a strong turnout and productive discussions, the Philippines-Cambodia Business Forum was widely regarded as a success. Business leaders and government representatives expressed enthusiasm for further collaboration, reinforcing the commitment to deepening economic relations between the two countries.
