Smart Axiata, Cambodia’s leading telecommunications company, has received the Gold Award for Tax Compliance from the General Department of Taxation and been recognized as the fifth-largest tax contributor in the Kingdom in 2022, highlighting its excellent governance practices and strong collaboration with the Royal Government of Cambodia.

It is the third time that the company has received the award for its exemplary practices and meeting its tax obligations under Cambodian law. Smart was the first ever mobile operator to receive the award back in 2018, with the company subsequently given the award again in 2020.

The Gold Award for Tax Compliance is presented to companies that meet their tax obligations and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and ethical standards in their business operations. Among the 200 companies selected by the General Department of Taxation for the award, Smart ranked in the top five contributors in 2022 and was specially recognized by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN, Prime Minister of Cambodia.

Consistently recognized for its excellent performance

Smart has been consistently recognized for its excellent performance at the forefront of Cambodian mobile technology advancement, notably receiving the Cambodia Mobile Data Company of the Year and Cambodia Mobile Services Company of the Year awards for five consecutive years from the international market research firm Frost and Sullivan, as well as the annual Best Telecommunications Company Cambodia and Best CSR Company Cambodia awards from 2015 to 2020 and the Leading Company in Building Community Resilience Cambodia award in 2021 from Global Banking and Finance.

Furthermore, Smart was recognized as the Best Contributor to the Capacity Building, Research and Development Fund (CBRD) by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications in 2019 and the Best Emerging Market Operator in 2018 by Telecom Asia.
