Cambodia Post, in collaboration with Swisscontact through the Global Alliance of Trade Facilitation’s Improving Small Package E-Trade for SMEs (SeT4SME) Project, marked a significant milestone in the digitalization of Cambodia’s postal services with the official launch of its new website. The launch event took place on Friday, November 24, 2023, at the Fairfield by Marriott in Phnom Penh, attended by key stakeholders, Cambodia Post representatives and SMEs.

The Improving Small Package E-Trade for SMEs (SeT4SME) Project, a two-year initiative (2021-2023) by the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation, is implemented by Swisscontact in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce (MoC), the General Department of Customs and Excise (GDCE), Cambodia Post, Universal Postal Union (UPU), The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the Cambodian Women Entrepreneurs Association (CWEA).

Cambodia Post and Its Digitalization Strategy

In response to the growing trend of cross-border e-commerce, Cambodia Post recognizes its pivotal role as a key player in facilitating small package trading and enhancing Cambodia’s position in the global trade chain. The postal network provides Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) with an affordable and direct means to participate in e-commerce, reducing dependencies on distributors, customs brokers, and retailers.

As part of its digitalization strategy, Cambodia Post has actively collaborated with GDCE to enable the advance sharing of electronic data, expediting the customs clearance process for international postal shipments. Moreover, the Royal Government of Cambodia’s recently introduced Pentagon Strategy underscores the significance of technology, prioritizing the advancement of the digital economy and society. The official launch of the modernized website and mobile application represents a significant reform milestone, offering dynamic and digital features such as parcel tracking, request for pickups, shipping fee calculations, and the preparation of electronic shipping labels (CN22/CN23).

The launch event served not only as a platform for Cambodia Post to showcase its enhanced services but also as an opportunity to engage with SMEs, new customers, and business associations. The new website not only benefits individual users but also opens avenues for potential collaborations between Cambodia Post and SMEs, fostering an environment for business growth and innovation.

Cambodia Post’s Commitment to Modernize Its Services

Mr. Then Samvisoth, Director General of Cambodia Post, welcomed participants with remarks highlighting the transformative impact of digitalization on postal services across the country. The event featured a presentation on “How SMEs can benefit from enhanced digital services of Cambodia Post,” followed by the official announcement of the new website’s launch, demonstrating its capabilities and user-friendly features.

The proceedings concluded with a networking session, allowing SMEs, business owners, and Cambodia Post representatives to exchange ideas and explore potential collaborations.

Cambodia Post’s commitment to modernize its services through digitalization represents a significant stride towards providing faster, more efficient, and customer-centric postal solutions. The newly launched website is expected to simplify the postal process for users, making domestic and international parcel sending easier than ever before. This initiative aligns with the broader objective of the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation and the SeT4SME Project in fostering economic growth and innovation in Cambodia.
