Cambodia Securities Plc. has hosted its highly anticipated grand opening ceremony, signaling a major milestone for the country’s developing capital market. The event was attended by over 300 participants from across Asia, including local conglomerates, regulators, politicians, and representatives from international financial institutions and foreign securities exchanges.

During the ceremony, Cambodia Securities Plc. was granted five major licenses by the Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC), making it the first securities house in the country capable of serving both the buy-side and the sell-side.

The licenses included: 

  1. Securities Underwriting
  2. Investment Advisory
  3. Fund Management
  4. Fund Distribution
  5. Fund Administration

The company also signed MOU with its strategic alliances such as Titan Stone Real Estate, KY Development, Cambodian Investors Corporation, La Vista One, Golden Cambodia Century GCC Group, Titan Stone Life Insurance, Bayon Credit, and Grand Cathay Investment Trust to strengthen the cooperation across entities that allows Cambodia Securities Plc.

The partnerships aim to more effectively and efficiently channel funds from its extensive sources of investors to the most optimal investment opportunity via delivering the best possible financial products and services with the highest level of professionalism and a strongly qualified team.

Cambodia Securities bullish on Cambodia’s growth

Mr. Teng Cheng Yueh, Executive Director of Cambodia Securities Plc., shared his bullish outlook on Cambodia’s growth prospects, predicting that the country will outperform other Asian countries soon.

Currently, there are nine listed companies on the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX), with two potential corporate issuers, Titan Stone Real Estate, and KY Development, working with Cambodia Securities to have their equity stake listed on the public stock exchange.

Cambodia Securities Exchange Chief Executive Officer H.E. Hong Sok Hour said it was a historic event and that moving forward, we should create a common dream – and that common dream is to build a stock market with a trading volume of $100 million a day within the next six to seven years.

According to the speakers, the average daily trading volume in the secondary market has also doubled on a Y-o-Y basis, indicating that investors are increasingly considering the domestic stock market as a viable investment option.
